Try it again in normal Drive mode because its quicker than sport mode, rides the boost and torque better. Most of the torque is between 2000 and 3600rpm. Torque drops off 40% less above 4000rpm, Sport is holding the gears above 4000 rpm upshifting too late. Drive mode is riding the boost and torque curves and using the available torque better upshifting at 3800rpm and keeping the revs around 2600 to 3800 rpm. Instead of 4300 rpm like sport mode. Does the DSG have an econony mode ?

this short gearing really helps, 5 speed manual versions are extremely gutless and you never find the right gear (5th is too long to do anything on the countryroad, etc).

I dont understand why the dsg pushes rpm over 3500 when the highest torque is between 1700 - 3500, and after 3500 the engine is dying. I am not talking about the power, but torque! Torque is the key to accelerate faster, not power. That is the reason I use only semi-automatic, when you dictate when to change gear and I achieve better results.

The new 1.6tdi are pants. If you want a good tuned car get a non pd ASV or ALH engine.get bigger pd150 turbo on wi bigger nozzles. Mines is quick.about 190ps just now.but waiting to put 3bar sensor on.then re tune. Still get 64mpg motorway and 51mpg town.cant beat it imho. The newer build quality vw are rubbish honest.wait til you have box problems and injector fuck ups.nothing lasts on newer vw's. Maybe cos they're made in south africa and quality controls a joke
