RAGGARADEthirst It is obvious he gets freebies and then talks the products up to promote others to do the same. He had a hard on for the Bear Grylls "Survival" range when anyone with half a clue knows they are terrible products designed for boy scouts to play survival and 60 minute hikers to feel "prepared".

***** did nutnfancy do that or this guy? I'd like to see for myself. Never owned a Bear Grylls knife, but it seemed decent when I watched Man vs Wild. I stick to Kabars, I use the Mk 1, and Heavy Bowie for just about everything for years now and I love em to death

I had SOG knife during my first tour in Iraq 04-05. I was part of the first group of Marines to be issued the new standard Kabar but I preferred my SOG knife instead. It had a nearly 50-50 weight balance and the finish didnt wear very easily. It was fairly sharp out of the package but I made it sharper as the deployment went on. I have been a fan of these knives ever since. Unfortunately through time and multiple deployments my SOG vanished on me. Great video Im going to look this one up $

I have the Seal Pup and it is exceptional. Upon field testing it, I bean immediately gathering other SOG blades and I've yet to be disappointed. The SOG Spirit is one of the coolest things ever!

Well made review, David. Really like all of your gear reviews. I recommend to take a look at the german km300, an improved version of the german army's field and combat knife. It can be directly compared to the sog seal team as a tactical/fightig knife as well as to the cold steel srk or similar knives as a bushcraft/survival knife. I think it would make a very interesting review, for it is somehow different from knives made by american companies, but still a match.

I was gifted a seal knife from an AForce Medic and picked up 2 seal pups one new and one very used. IF IF you have to walk and carry rifle ammo and armour then the seal pup will still be in your kit at day 3. When I go the we wilderness I take the pup with a diamond stick and i can keep using it and touch up the edge as I go. Really fab around water and preps food extremely well.

I bought this knife about a year and a half ago after watching this review. I was pretty happy with it and used it often out camping and what not. One day I was batoning some really hard oak with it and a piece of the handle chipped off. When I contacted SOG they told me that batoning is not covered under their warranty. I found myself confused that this company would market a knife as the toughest knife you can get, chosen by the navy seals and all that, and not cover batoning. I wrote back saying that I wish I would've bought an esee and, perhaps, next time I will. They never responded. Though I do think this is a good knife, I feel like the company that makes it should back it up more. Also after using it for some time out int he woods I was wishing I had this knife with no serrations. Apparently they don't make a fine edge version.

I really love this knife! I have 2 primary fixed blades. The sog seal team elite and the Chris Reeve green beret. I use my sog much more. Takes a beating. I've only ever had one sog break on me, the salute. The salute was one of their lower end knives and I put it through a world of hurt before it broke. I always keep the seal team elite strapped to my tac vest or pack.

I plan on getting a SEAL team elite one day soon . I really like the Channel i just came across it for the first time today . My favorite 6 in blade is a Cold Steel Master Tanto in San mai III . I am waiting for a zt0301 to come in this week which i have wanted for a while . The ZT0100 fixed CPM-m3 Blade and Benchmade Marc Lee Glory Knife are great combat knives in the $250 to 300 range

Thank you for this review. I never gave SOG much thought but looked at their site and saw a few models, including this one that caught my eye. I own a few of these types of knives but always find myself going back to my trusty Buck Nighthawk. By the way, I'd love to see your opinion on their new model. keep up the good work!

Have a seal PUP elite and Buck 120 General, Buck 110 hunter finger grooves, have many Spydercos Delica just over 2 ounces ideal back up

Good question... actually I'm currently out of truck windows to break though... I need more... Well we had a few junkers around and a few more show up... and you get two videos of window breaking per car... I may have to go to the junk yard and see if they would let me break some windows... now that I'm out.

It's always an adventure around here... haa, haa... nothing big right now... but, we're working hard right now toward a 1 year adventure across the US and Canada... hopes are that we will start mid-2013. I plan to take a bunch of gear on the road and do reviews and testing along the way...

i wasnt putting the steel down, i have 3 knives with aus8 and love it, i thought you may have been misinformed of its quality, and as for the pitting of the steel when bead blasted, ive read reports about that but one of my knives is affected with pitting even though it is well oiled, great vid

I have carried the Al Mar SERE 2000 (VG-10) for many years. I love it. I also have an AG Russell/Dozier Trapper (German D2) that I carry on wildland calls. I prefer their steels to the 440C. I'm picky about steels. Everybody has preferences. Both the SOG and the Benchmade are great knives. It's like red and white wine. Personal preference.

Biggest different is the size. Size of blade and handle are smaller in the pup. There are different finishes... but I think most of the pups and elites are AUS-8a SS.

ive been looking at the same things as you. I second his suggestion on the SRK, but also the Cold Steel Recon Tanto, really strong tip, little more length than the srk, and some belly for slicing.

I agree completly :) Now A.G.Russell I am surprised, it is a lesser known compains. I have a VG-10 Featherlite. And Al Mar I love the look of alot of their blades and the quality, but I cave yet to own one, maybe one day in the next few years. Now the benchmade I was talking about is N680 and that is a egivalent roughly to VG-10 but more rust resitant. And the safty cutter is 440c. I also what to get the CPM s30v Spyderco Military

Dued look at the Benchmade 915 Triage. N680 sheeps foot blade, bright orange G-10 handle or black, a great safety cutter that can just peal through even denium, and it has a glass breaker at the end. It is a good size to offering a 3 1/2 blade. Now it does come at a price: $125ish, but look into it, it is well worth it.

I love the SOG Force and Cold Steel SRK too . I have the first production SOG Force with the Combo blade, I wish I had the Plain edge but i got a great deal on it . It was $70 on amazon which was cool. I think the Seal Pup Elite is a good knife I have one but i would want more of a Knife for Combat. You can always do more with a big knife. I have been thinking about the ESEE 5 and 6 but Im not sure I will need that much of a knife . I think the ESEE 5 is also a good choice for active duty .

Depends what you want to do... I personally carry the LMF II more than the Seal Team Elite. The LMF II is a bit more versatile. Check out my review of the SOG Force also, if you like the Seal Team Elite and want more of a survival vs. a tactical knife. Take care. ~ David

Nice review of this knife ! Maybe the best one i have seen so far ! The Sog Seal team Elite may be one of the best combat knives, used also by the navy seals. Would it be a better idea to buy a Sog Seal Team 2000, as a cheaper alternative to the Seal Team Elite ? And is the Seal Team 2000 as good as the Seal Team Elite ? Your answer will help me very much.
