In this episode I'm kayak fishing with a new group of clients out front of Los Buzos Resort on the wild Pacific Coast of Panama. We're catching a huge variety of species, including several we can't even identify and a few that are absolutely massive. Then, we have a ball of bait hiding underneath one of our kayakers, while a huge pod of dolphins hunts it from all sides. This is mother nature at it's finest!

In Hawaii we call that fish a pualu.. I’ve caught an 18 pound pualu.. its super white meat not a ton of flavor but great grilled with some oil and spices

Lovely fishing. The new fish you caught is called surgeonfish, due to a very sharp spin her tail that cuts like a scalpel. It tastes good, and it gives a nice fight on light tackle.

I thought they were called trigger fish because of the second spine. The first big spine won't go down If you push on it unless you push the second one down like pulling the trigger. Give it a try it's pretty cool.

Yellowfin surgeonfish , do not hold the fish tail with bare hands, it might hurt your fingers.

Caution: The spines found at their tail base provide these fish with a unique defense mechanism rendering them exceedingly “dangerous” to handle as these spines can inflict major slashing wounds. In addition, the base of their caudal fin has a truly lethal scalpel.
