Howdy guys, my name is Attorney Walter Rudolph Hnot, III. New Jersey born, MBA, JD, Master Mason and a tireless advocate for the homeless and low income who are seeking disability benefits. It's simple, if you are within the law's requirements for disability benefits, you get a check every month, and health insurance. No, it doesn't include a new iPhone, house or cool car, but, with your SSI/SSDI disability backpay, you can potentially get those things...with your own disability money :-). I created this channel because of how many crazy things I was hearing out in the general public on how this system works. I did library seminars, academia seminars, food truck seminars (which I prefer), etc...The online video platform is the best way to reach the majority of you guys.

Yes lots of abusers and no one should get disability all their life because no 75 yr old would still be working anyway!! It should last only through your yrs that you could have worked and have a STOP Mark at like age 68 or 70. I know old 80 yr olds that will just keep collecting if they can.

@@joyceanderson8648 i don't believe anyone is collecting disability after they hit full retirement age. i know someone who is 79 or 80 & he still works 10 hours a day 5 days a week, then does work at his church or on his house on Saturdays. he goes up a ladder like its nothing, while when i was 55 stairs were a pretty good challenge for me. he owns an RV repair shop and gets on the top of the RVs all the time. he can lay on the ground and slide under, then slide out & stand up like a healthy 30 year old can. im not ashamed to admit i am jealous, or is it envious? which ever one, i am very much that,....

Update on my hearing…I just called SS to confirm my hearing date of April 4th, and they told me it’s been cancelled due to the ALJ already making her decision. They couldn’t tell me over the phone, but said to call my attorney rep. They also said they have to wait till both them, and I get the letter from SS. I’m trying to log into my SS account to see if it shows, but kinda nervous now. I’m assuming though, that if a decision was made, before my hearing, it must be a good sign?? 🤔

8 months is nothing and, you have nothing to complain about! The Social Security Administration didn’t find you extremely disabled, you were labeled disabled by a doctor before you ever filed! The SSA, they aren’t doctors so, they can’t label you such, your doctor did! The SSA is going off of your medical records and, your physical exam whose doctor you went to see for a physical exam to back up your doctor’s medical reports and off of the tests you took for them, common sense! It takes most of us 3 yrs or more to get a hearing and, get our case rapped up and to win our case!

Attorneys don't do anything you can't do yourself. I'm waiting for my reconsideration. Had my online adult phych appointment. I was honest this time about my disabilities compared to the 1st time because of embarrassment about how pathetic I am. I'm 60, worked 34 yrs for the post office until 2019. I've been diagnosed with agoraphobia, bulimia, extreme depression and grief. I haven't worked since my mom died in Aug of 2021. My bro died in Nov of 2019. That year I left the Po, both my dogs died. I moved 7 times, lived in my car, and ended a 3yr abusive relationship.2 Yrs before that my sis stole my house and had me evicted from it which I paid my mum in cash for then made it so I couldn't visit her the last 18 months she was alive. Just be honest about your disabilities. Chris

However, the first two times, they didn't even have me see their doctor. The last time they did. That was the only difference. I have multiple comorbidities including two that are considered life-shortening. SSA botched my original paper application in April 2023 and only uploaded part of it to their system. Since it was not considered a complete application, they just closed the case without even notifying me. I went through a disability attorney and resubmitted an electronic application in September 2023. Finally, in May of 2024 ( 243 days after the September app), my attorney found out that the state examiner approved my claim and that it was being sent back to the local field office for "final review". Their website states that this typically takes 15-30 days. It is now 52 days, and I have not heard a word. The status remains "final review". My grandfather was a proud branch manager of a SSA office back in the day. He would be rolling over in his grave if he knew what is happening at SSA now.

In my case the first application process was denied, even after getting representation from an attorney and I gave up. I immediately contracted with another firm but with the long wait through the first application, I no longer had the credits within the time frame for SSDI. I did finally get approved for SSI. I'm grateful to get it, but I still feel cheated because of the first attempt and because the judge would approve it at the Administrative Judge hearing IF I agreed to change my onset date. My attorney advised that I go along with it and I was struggling so I did agree.

Medicare doesn’t start until you receive 24 months of disability payments. It should start when you get approved for SSDI. After all, people who didn’t work enough (or at all) to receive SSDI get Medicaid immediately after getting approved for SSI. Plus it’s free. Insurance in general is out of control. My husband was paying $500 a month to insure himself through his works insurance policy and still had a $10,000 deductible. Only basic preventative appointments were covered with a $20 co-pay. It’s pretty much only benefits you if you get cancer or have to have major surgery.

Your mini-lectures are well-crafted, clear, and appear designed for those going through the process and/or those that are helping them. I had my initial interview last month after a year of waiting. I’m retired US military so all my medical records are in my VA claim file as I have also submitted claims for VA disability which the SSA can request. I was told by the interviewer it would be about 6-12 months for a decision to be made but I’ll get back pay to my claim submission date and one year prior as my disability onset date is January 2017.

They are supposed to retro your application back to the date you applied. So it shouldn't have changed the income they apply it to, but there are some caveats to that. You do have to be disabled a year before you're considered. And you can tell them the date you became disabled but they generally don't agree with that date. I know specifically the date I became disabled because it was my birthday. But they deemed my disabled date sometime the following month. I seem to remember some wording that explained it, but I don't remember it, now. I watched the progress online and it edged up 2%, 2%, 2%, then when it reached 97% it didn't go up any further. Shortly after I got the denial. Then I started the lawyer assisted appeal.

It took me 2.5 yrs to get disability in 2001, it took my husband 3.5 yrs in 2012. During 2017 to 2019. It was a shorter time wait. At this time, there's no money, it's been dipped into, given to unqualified, and not managed correctly. One will be lucky enough to get disability. Or keep it if already on it. They are giving the funds to others, figure it out.😢

I logged in my husbands SSA account and it says "Typically it takes 362 days for a decision." I thought that was a generic, random number, but maybe it is particular to him, and he's one of the Categories you mentioned. Idk which one...I really thought his would be one of the easy-peasy cases. Should have been approved within 60 days, not 360 (+2).

Exactly, I agree! It takes most disability claims 3 yrs or more, like it or not! My case took a little over 3 yrs and, they actually are nice enough to take and walk you through the beginning stages once you are approved! I always got a letter to tell me what the next steps were and, yet a lady was nice enough to give me a call that exact same day to also inform me! She also called me after, I filed the first time they were looking at my case very seriously and, I had to file again! She led me through up until it was time where she let me know it was time to get a attorney! You have to do also what they expect you to do as well, if you want to win your case, do not miss a physical exam or medical test, miss them and, it won’t look good! And, you have to go where they want you to go and see their doctors!

That's one thing I can say for them, all the people we've dealt with have been very nice, and as helpful as they could be. So unlike so many other so-called "Customer Service" jerks I've had to deal with in doctor's offices, medical records, insurance companies, etc.

A 59 year old coworker who went manic and was hospitalized for same filed for disability had to wait over a year just to be denied, but she applied without legal help. She ended up hospitalized again with depression and suicidal ideation after the denial.

I took 3 years and a lawyer. I got declared disabled in 1 month. The state messed up my medicaid for over 9 months. Mom spent hours on the phone and talked to everyone in the state. Talk to your state and federal senators: mom did that for me.

I was born with myelomeningocele and hydrocephalus, later in life I needed two new bladders made out of my intestines. I worked all those years until I could no longer. I was approved for SSDI in 2 weeks time. Social Security knows what to look for trust me.

Been going thru this since August '21...I got a hearing date for April 25, 2024!! Now my nerves are fried cause I don't know what to do with the judge. yes I have a Lawyer I think LOL, they keep sending me paperwork to fill out and it feels like I keep doing this over and over again. I was on SS, not sure which, from 2009-2016, and I didn't have to go in front of the judge for my approval so this is new!! I feel like I am drowning!!
