I actually own a steam controller and I have to say it is one of the most solid controllers I have ever used, almost everything is customizable (but that's mainly just a steam thing, and only party the controller) and everything is just satisfying to press and use. The only gripe I have with it is the questionable packaging, everything is so tightly fit that putting it all back can be a nightmare if something wrangles out of place or you put the wrong cord in the wrong spot.
@WeeGerGaiАй бұрын
Another thing I might add is the original steam controller also had back buttons just like this new one.

its legit one of the best controllers for FPS, especially combined with gyro aiming. but I be honest its not very good for anything for official controller games, like playing emulator console games on this is just so awkward but I don't think it ever was designed it to be ever like that. playing TF2 made me realize it was basically just designed for KB/M input.
@WeeGerGaiАй бұрын
@@banguseater I find it to be great with any game if you spend enough customizing it and figuring out controls. With the many buttons on multiple sides with gyro and analog it's kind of hard to find a game that doesn't have a comfortable control scheme. And also I've found that it works just fine in emulators if you set it as an xbox controller or play with non-steam game additions. Sometimes it helps to add the emulator .exe into steam as a non-steam game and it registers just fine.
@WeeGerGaiАй бұрын
@@devolution-wt9ou Unfortunate :( I keep mine in a soft case so in case it ever drops some of the impact is weakened. I bought it for $50 on sale but they don't make it anymore so I cherish it like a historic piece of art.

I remember I was the only one in my friend group who actually liked playing splatoon with gyro aim but it's so useful. Genuinely I would never have touched that game series if it weren't for the gyro aim. Hell I genuinely do not think I'd have beaten the octo expansion without gyro aim, it's the holy grail for console FPS gameplay and more people need to give it a shot.
@j.k.4479Ай бұрын
@@Jenna_Talia I agree, gyro is superior. Something is wrong with Splatoons stick controls, been playing console shooters since I was young but Splatoon is the only series I have played where I struggle with using sticks. I think it's the awful joy-con sticks, they're terrible for fighting games too.
@twobitsnickАй бұрын
@j.k.4479 this isn't a diss but most shooters implement some form of auto aim, (yes, even if you have it off, it's just softer) because sticks are such a clumsy aiming tool. Splatoon doesn't do this.
