New Style Remodeled Rooms Debut at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort - Full Tour
The Big Pine Key building has reopened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort after an extensive refurbishment. This building holds the new Disney Vacation Club resort studio rooms, which are the first guest rooms in the new style. The rest of the rooms will receive the same remodel later in the ongoing resort overhaul.

Well it’s better than the Marriott Courtyard. Nothing wrong with it. Just feels like very little love and care went into some of the design elements. If it wasn’t for the Mickey ears made out of towels there wouldn’t be much that informs you it’s a “top notch” Disney hotel/resort.

Not a fan of the lobby, namely for the color palette, 50's-era coffee tables that don't fit a Victorrian theme and the milquetoast chandelier. The tables in the room also give off that 50's modern-luxe vibe that just doesn't go with what should be the resort's theme. There are touches that are nice like the MaPo wallpaper behind the coffee maker but this just screams of a cheap makeover, like much of the Chapek era. FWIW, 2023 can't come soon enough - time for A creative CEO to take this company back before it runs out of time to save itself. Remember, the chief competitor has a new gate coming in 3 short years. Disney needs to energize its core base prior to that. Half-hearted refurbs like this will not cut it.

As a designer, everything looks like it was purchased en mass at Cost Plus. The IP with Mary Poppins needs to stop. What happened to simple escapes. The price Disney is charging for mediocre rooms is just wrong. This is theming gone to IKEA. So sad to see this happen. I loved the Victorian Era appropriate design of the original lobby and rooms. That design will never go out of style. It's about transporting guests to the past. I guess social media has ruined that and decided to erace history once again

While I appreciate the nods to Mary Poppins, overall my first impression of the lobby is that it looks like the perfect venue for an upscale baby shower rather than the opulent grand feeling I expected. I wish they went from the original deep rich colors to compliment the over the top lobby, to the later period pastel hues in the rooms to lighten and compliment a smaller area.

I hope they keep the older design in some of the rooms, I stayed here with my uncle once and we got lucky as they upgraded us to the Royal Palm club level, our room had a nice Victorian theme with Alice in Wonderland designs, I much preferred that to this style.

The Exterior is a Victorian Seaside Resort reminiscent of the Coronado Hotel in San Diego while the Interior is now a Modern 2020's Luxe theme reminiscent of a cheesy Modern Las Vegas Casino resort. The interior complex clashes with the exterior and makes zero sense. I guess Disney has completely forgot about thr concept of "Themeing".

Reading the comments, the opinions seem to be split, slightly to the negative side. I felt that way when they changed the Polynesian Resort rooms to the Moana look and feel. I was VERY disappointed, however the comments were positive for the Polynesian modifications. So what can I say, people will make their votes, via their wallets. However, the closing of the Spirit of Aloha, and destruction of the Luau Cove, is very disappointing and unforgivable.

Well, it’s an improvement over the old rooms that were there. I love the subtle MaPo theming and I think it’s all decorated very beautifully actually but I agree that they missed the mark in terms of keeping it authentic Victorian. These rooms would make more sense in a new hotel instead of turning an existing (flagship) hotel into something it’s not.

The lobby would be pretty good if they didn't choose light fixtures and tables that look dated already. I feel like all the faux gold bauhaus style touches are at odds with the detailed prints and cutouts. Anyway, they missed the chance to decorate the Grand Floridian in the grandmillenial style. i'm in love with the new design of the resort : ) the carpet design looks absolutely dropped dead gorgeous. my loved ones and i are planning a week visit stay at the resort in december . i hoping the fact since we're staying in the main building, it won't affect us if they are planning on not only redesigning possibly each of the individual buildings at the resort alongside the main building in which possibly will be the last thing to redesign somewhere down the road in the future after we've left; just saying. my eyes lit up like firecrackers and my jaw dropped to the floor when watching this video. for some reason personally, i got old school english victorian vibes; this color scheme is absolutely dropped dead gorgeous looking.

Love the color scheme they have gone with. I'm just hearing about the renovations as I am getting ready for a trip this month and have been watching some videos and such, and I was really worried about the renovation. I think most of it is pretty great, but would argue they need to stop using the westelm inspired coffee tables and side tables. they could have easily gone with something more victorian that would have worked better. I love the wallpapers used (especially the mary poppins one in the cubbie), but think a lot of the lighting is also too modern. the sconces didn't bother me, but the chandelier when you walked in was a bad choice. I just don't understand the need to make everything more midcentury modern, and I love midcentury modern!

Did Disney lose all of its designers who understand appropriate period design? Looks cheap. Overdone application of wallpapers mixed with a weird mix of modern and eclectic furniture, ugly quirky chandeliers, and cheap finishes does not equal Victorian charm. God , the new Disney of the last few years has been so uninspiring in the creative department. They used to be masters of design, and now are really watering down their once amazing products.

Don't really understand some of the negative feedback here - I get people wanted more of a "victorian" feel, but bottom line is that the old "victorian" style rooms this hotel had are extremely outdated now, and people who spend $20k on a Disney vacation aren't going to pay for that. They are clearly trying to market this resort as a competitor of the Four Seasons, and I actually think it looks fantastic. The wallpaper and the amount of molding they've added to those rooms is insane..and trust me, that type of woodwork is not cheap to install. Not to mention that the theming is tastefully done. Grand Floridian is a hotel people stay at for luxury, if you're looking for a true themed experience stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Polynesian.
