@@SILKYsaw oh awesome I appreciate it. I'm watching another of your videos now haha. So I have question. I want a saw fixed blade for bushcraft and cutting large hardwood logs for making fires. I like the sugoi and the Sugowaza. Any other suggestions. I'll be cutting ground level most of the time. Cutting stuff in the 5" to 8" size range. ( I'm American so not sure what that is in mm)😬 By the way I have the big boy the katana boy, the f180, the pocket boy. I don't know I might have a couple others also LOL. But never tried a fixed blade saw yet. Thanks Shane

@@shane4176 Hi Shane, that is a great range of folders that you have! First thing is knowing whats available in America, so as I don't I hope I don't recommend something that they don't stock. With what you have told me I would go for the Kamisorime. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ep98l6p2vKeWmn0.html If they don't stock that one, then the two you are tossing up over would be my next pick. The Sugoi 420 and Sugowaza are the same, just the Sugowaza has the safety bar. So I guess it depends on how much you push, which you no doubt don't as you will know with your folders that all the pressure is towards your body 😀 Nita.

not sure what size Silky to get, is there a chart to show what each blade is recommended for in regards to diameter of branches/stumps you're trying to cut?
@ThePermanentMoose
@ThePermanentMoose Жыл бұрын
this is a pretty old comment but in case you're still wondering or anyone else is, you generally don't want to cut anything more than half the length of the blade. obviously you can go over this but it's a good rule of thumb.

love the zubat 330 arborist! the sugoi seems quite a bit better. is there any kerf difference between zubat arborist and sugoi 330?
@SILKYsaw
@SILKYsaw 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, we did forget to mention that info, sorry! The thickness (kerf) of the New Sugoi is 1.7 and the Zubat is 1.4. The weight of the New Sugoi with leg straps is 580g and the Zubat with leg straps is 530g. This is a really cool saw, but no good on small branches, will annihilate the big ones in seconds though! Pretty fun to use 😄Nita and Shenae

Nice video, your production value is becoming more refined. Could you give the blade thickness and weight of each saw. I'm not being lazy, it can be quite frustrating trying to get specs on silky saws. The silky website is a joke. Amazon specs are often extremely limited, vague or not up to date. I trust you as my go to source for all things silky. 🍻 Ps any chance of silky ever putting out some more subdued coloring schemes as an option for their saws and especially the sheaths? It is almost like they don't want the hunter/outdoorsman and military market. SMH.

@SILKYsaw 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dirk, Thank you we are trying to improve! However, I can't believe that we forgot to mention your questions in our video, where were you when we were filming, lol. The thickness (kerf) of the New Sugoi is 1.7 and the Zubat is 1.4. The weight of the New Sugoi with leg straps is 580g and the Zubat with leg straps is 530g. As for the colours it is so hard to know what to do. Silky sell to so many different fields. For you I totally get you want earthy tones, but Arborists and gardeners want the brightest they can find, so Silky try to make some black and others bright, so that there is something for everyone. 😀 I keep waiting for a camo one, I will keep asking and we might get it one day! Hi Nita and Shenae. I was told by Heather that the Sugoi 360mm also now has the nickel plating and the updated handle and sheath like on this 330mm one here, is that right? On the web page it still states the 360mm is chrome plated and shows the old design pictures. I just wanted to clarify before I buy it! Otherwise I'll take this new 330mm one, but would much prefer 360mm! I love your videos, two warm beautiful souls, even if you are Queenslanders ;) haha. Thanks.

Why can this one be resparped ? Does that mean it get dull faster then the hardened blades? Sorry probably a dumb question
@SILKYsaw
@SILKYsaw 4 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question at all! This one has not had the hardening process applied to the teeth. This means the metal is still able to be sharpened. Once the hardening process has been applied, the metal becomes harder than the file and therefore can not be sharpened. The hardened teeth will stay sharp 3 times longer than non hardened teeth like these. But don't be discouraged, as the non hardened teeth still stay sharp for a very long time. I hope this makes more sense, Nita 😃

One more comment, because I forgot to ask in the previous one. Nita, those Green Hippy pants/overalls. How cool are they? When I first noticed them, I thought they were like thick safety pants. But then I noticed the shoulder straps were thin. Then my eyes started to work properly and I realised they were made of light cloth because you can see the stripes of your t-shirt through them. And now this whole comment is just sounding weird and creepy and it wasn't meant to be. Sorry. I grew up in a predominantly female family. I notice what people are wearing ...Annnd it just gets weirder... I'd best shut up now and figure out how to save for Sugoi 330. Cool Hippy pants, Nita. Hi Shenae :o).
