The invisible box past the flag is to stop mario from walking past the texture of the caste so it looks like mario goes into the castle and stays in there. Since part of the castle is in the foreground and some is behind to make it look like mario walks into the castle, and instead of making mario stop walking after walking enough, they just put an invisible box to avoid having to code mario stopping.

11:38 I might know why there's an invisible rectangle. By abusing some game mechanics in Super Mario Maker, we find that Mario walks forward a little bit, then stops and crouches once he is inside the castle. Therefore, the rectangle is most likely there to stop Mario from falling off the level at the end.

I know why there is that invisible rectangle past the castle in the desert level; Mario is programmed to constantly walk after touching the flag pole, and would walk right thru the back wall of the castle if nothing stopped him, but with the invisible collision zone he stops. The game creators never intended you to figure this out but with glitches you did.

I was messing around in the game when I first got it and found this glitch. Here's how you do it: 1. Go to Level 3, World 2 2. Proceed through the stage normally until you reach the Piranha Plant next to two flippers. Fall through them. 3. If you jump at just the right position between the two flippers, Mario will get stuck. Pressing right moves the camera in that direction, while jumping and pressing left ends the glitch. +Space Chicken If you ever do a sequel to this video

There's actually a blue shell glitch you didn't cover. In any level with a lakitu steal the cloud and bring it to the ground. Using the blue shell run into it while spinning and you should be able to hit the cloud and get 2000 points (or 4000 I forget I don't have the game anymore), however the cloud will not disappear, and it is also locked in place and will not vanish over time. You can use it as normal but you can repeatedly hit the cloud with the blue shell infinitely gaining lots of points really fast. You can max out your score incredibly fast. I managed to get 3 lakitu clouds between the secret quicksand pillar and get my score skyrocketing 3x as fast. I would suggest when putting the clouds between any small gap you should put them in the center to maximize the hit time. Although sadly to do the 3 clouds you will need to hit the cloud with the blue shell a few times to carry it across the level and even when you get there you must let them float down low enough into the quicksand pillar and repeatedly press A so you don't sink while you spin inside. . It's not a hard trick to do so I'll hope you 'll give it a try :)

MAN this is a blast to the past...

11:39 the invisible rectangle is actually for visuals... a VERY long time ago (when I was 7)I used cheats on my ds emulator and flew over the flag pole. I noticed that when I change the graphics size of Mario, he actually clips at the edge of the little castle. if Mario is normal size, he does not clip out, making it not look weird... that's the reason why there's an invisible box oh and the emulator that I mentioned isn't really an emulator... it's a game card with an SD card in it. I have 94 games on that single card. and you can insert cheats using Javascript (oh and yes, I did know how to use Javascript when I was 7)

The invisible rectangle at 11:48 is when the flag pole animation is done he disappears when he hits the right side of the door and then where you would normally see him as he would keep going at the rate he was going when he jumped off the flag pole, the invisible rectangle triggers the Mario head animation (when the lvl is supposed to end), and it didn’t do it when he jumped on because the flagpole wasn’t triggered so it wasn’t activated

11:52 the invisible rectangle is the spot where mario is blocked off from going off screen, it’s part of his run cycle and the tower is switched to being above his layer when he hits the flagpole.

Just wanted to point out a few fun extra things for everyone :D At 4:34, after making the invisible block appear, you can grab a mini-mushroom from earlier in the level or from your prepared inventory. Stand underneath that invisible block while standing on both of the two blocks that you can stand on. Jump, and Mario is now trapped. There's a little bit of variation to this, including being able to get regular Mario trapped as well. For 8:26, the timing for waiting is about 40 seconds from when you land on the platform before jumping off. Also, if you combine this glitch with the challenge mode glitch at 10:18 by ducking while jumping with the correctly-sized gap at pretty much any one of the pipes, you can actually complete the level. Also, it wasn't shown, but if you go slow enough while walking in midair, you can undershoot the area where Space Chicken was stuck in and instantly die. Speaking of the challenge mode glitch, for 6-1 at 10:03, there's actually a place a bit further down in the level that makes for a more interesting starting place. At this starting place you can bypass about half of the level by ducking while jumping into the gap created, no Bullet Bills needed. Sadly, it's hard to explain exactly where it is, but it's at a place between two "midair pillars", or walls. Thank you for clicking "read more" and encountering my literal WALL OF TEXT.
