@@4wdsome444 I admit, wanting to have the Forester play the same ball park as the others mentioned, true to the core, off the road cars, was slightly off. But, out of context here, the Forester still is a legendary classic, even the 2019 incarnation. And, if talking "SUV", this is the mother of them all, and still the best to really fulfill that stupidous term. I truely do not favor the path Subaru has chosen, but honestly, is there any alternative for them nowadays? Idealistically argumenting, I would say yes, but on the long term survival point of view? Subaru just always pushes my 4wd emotions to the limit, just as the Ur-Quattro, or all the other group b legends do, and this not even having one in to compete, but breathing the same air. The other day, I saw a Subaru kei transporter of the early nineties on the road and had the goosebumps, had to follow it just to watch and admire. Being so much into this just leaves no space for being reasonable. Sorry for getting your blood boiling here...

The differentiation between SUVs and "true hardcore" offroaders is common in Germany. However, in other countries like the USA there isn't such a differentiation. Even cars like the Jimny or the Wrangler are called SUV there.

I own a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, which drives ok on the road, but immediately you set wheels onto the rough, it transforms into something special and I just love the feel of that moment..

When I was much younger and stupider, I quite enjoyed driving my old Jeep Wrangler TJ with BFG mud-terrains quickly around the damp corners of Highland roads here in Scotland - it was the perverse thrill of almost dying in a ball of flame at the bottom of a mountain ravine (though I don't think my mum would have been very happy!).

@@esoteric1213 I honestly don't think so. The market is quite different now. The "traditional" SUVs are almost all gone. Crossovers have eaten away at the vast majority of that previous market for people that really never needed off road prowess and only needed AWD for bad weather and snow. For people needing real off road abilities, to go where other vehicles do not dare, the bar has been raised quite a bit. Jeep Rubicons, Toyota TRD Pros, Colorado ZR2, etc etc. The Suzuki just doesn't compare. And it won't matter that it's so much less expensive. People with money will choose a better vehicle. And people with less money won't choose a vehicle that is just second rate as a daily driver.

Just bought my girlfriend a 95 3 door rav4, fun to drive, handles dirt really well

repent now. Sadly i think LandRover are set to abandon this sector of the market forever. Much more money to be made from selling expensive up market urban tractors to owners who will only ever get to drive off road when they cross the pavement to access their homes!

Heck no!. The Vitara does not have the looks, character nor charisma of the Jimny. In the 70s/80s in Australia, Suzuki sold a LWB version of the Sierra in the form of a ute (aka pick-up version) and it was called "Stockman". To this day, it is very much loved by farmers. Those who still have them, keep a hold of them.

The 5-door Jimny is called Sierra but it is available only in Japan.

For 5 door version the suspension has to be totally diff In India we have the LWB Soft top with 2 doors only with side facing seats. If you want to torture someone tie them in the backseat...take a spin on potholes roads for 10 minutes......you can find the person with lots of dislocated bones😢😭😥😂😁😁😁

No, it's a revamped Jimny 3rd gen which was around from 1998 to 2018 which it in turn replaced the 2nd gen Jimny (SJ/Samurai) which replaced the 1st gen Jimnys, the LJ series.
