Hey North Star... Soon the days that are like grits without sausage will end as ol' North Star hits the trail again. The excitement meter has already hit ten with more anticipation than that of finding the first of the SC watermelons at the farmer's market. Maybe more anticipation than that of Elvis' '68 Comeback Special. Yes siree, Bob, Audrey on the CT...I'm all in! But now the big question is... who is the mystery guest??? Your mom? Joe? Your brother? If I guessed your brother, would I be close?

I'll be watching. May all your tent spots be as nice as that one!

Love that you're planning to hike the Colorado Trail. Totally different experience compared to the AT for sure. Please tell me those aren't Ozark trail trekking poles, and if they are you don't plan to use them for hiking... I had a pair, couldn't keep them tight enough and almost fell when one collapsed on me on a steep down hill. 0/10 do not recommend. Trail Buddy poles are much better budget poles, never had one fail. Love the new tent! Pretty big for a 2 person.

Great to hear you will be doing another hike. The CT is on my bucket list. I am considering doing a short section of it in late August. You will love your XMid! I also have the regular 2P. It is amazing and roomy and so easy to set up.

WooHoo!! Looking forward to seeing your journey. I have the Xmid 1P. I really like it but the interior sometimes feel a little narrow. If I may, I suggest picking up the Stargazer kit for the tent. It allows you to pitch just the inner for nights where you want to lay under the stars but not quite cowboy camp. The total kit is less than 1oz and worth it. Good luck!!

Great news! I have long distance cycle rides planned for the next three years, but weighing up the merits of hiking from Springer to Harpers Ferry, or alternatively the Colorado Trail in 2027 as part of my 60th birthday celebrations! I will watch with great interest. Good luck from 🇦🇺!

That's a beautiful tent! Superb Sharing! Lots of love and respect from a solo mountain hiker friend from the Hindu Kush Mountains Lower Chitral District of Pakistan.

Figure in the adjustment to altitude. I lived at 8000 ft and we pulled hikers off trail due to altitude sickness. Collegiate Peaks area......go on the east side. Good re-supply opportunity in Buena Vista. Great hiker town and close to trail. I am biased. Lived in Buena Vista for about 20 years and hiked portion of trail before there was a Colorado Trail.

Good for you. Watch Wandering Monk. He's done some interesting trails in the midwest. If you see the other Audrey, give her condolences on the loss of her dog. Talk to her about the CT. A high calorie snack that I eat regularly are digestive biscuits. They have a light taste(unless you go for chocolate chip) and a 70 calories each. 5 make a nice and quick breakfast for me. If you had someone else with you on the drive you can split the driving to VA. Have fun. Good Luck, Rick

North Star, great news & Colorado Trail can you complete the thru hike over your summer break? I think this tent will be my choice too. I have heard double wall tents have less moisture issue problems I may be at trail days & if I do I will definitely stop in at Taylor’s both. I will be following for sure on this next adventure. Thruhiked in 2018 sobo/webo and I’ve done the collegiate loop twice. Coming from lower elevation the altitude was brutal and the climbs so much harder.

Happy to help. Just be sure to give yourself a couple of days to acclimate to the higher altitudes. Nice tent, from the looks of it - not as 'cramped' as most two-person tents. One thing to keep in mind when you get to Breckenridge on the CT, Summit county runs a free county bus system that connects Breckenridge, Frisco, Copper Mountain, and Silverthorne/Dillon and the bus stop is close to where the trail crosses the road north of Breckenridge.

Donna and I are looking forward to your next adventure, we are thinking about going to Trail Days but can only come on Sunday. Do you think enough vendors hang out on Sunday to make it worth the drive? Other than possibly seeing you again, which of course would make it worth the drive.

2 wks have gone by Audrey just checking in to see how you doing I know you're going to go do the big meet and greeting with all the other campers and then it was time to do the Colorado trail which I'm really pumped and excited for you to explore I think you're going to enjoy it but haven't heard anything so I don't know if things are flowing or not if everything looks like on schedule or not and be nice to know if you just check in and let us know how it's going did you enjoy the trip out to hiker days ????? I don't know the exact timeline from that point when you leave there are you heading straight over to Colorado and begin your trip with the Colorado trail we're getting into summer here and you've got to be somewhere in the trail I'm guessing I don't know we haven't heard anything from you so if you can give us an update. Thank God it wasn't the pro version, it sucks as a single wall. the condinsation on the 1wall is bad ....best thing you can have is a double wall especially with 2 people in such a small space for ventilation !!!!
