It’s an awesome bike! So far it is an absolute blast to ride and my daughter is loving sitting on the back instead of the trailer she’s been it for the last 4 years!

Things I do like, has big, but not crazy big tires and wheels. Has fenders. Like the kickstand. Has a mid drive motor. Has two burly batteries in the right places. Like the integrated lights. Would prefer if they just gave me hookups so I could plug my own light choice in. Offered their light choices as an option. Like that front rack, very Paris-Dakar. Style is important. Would like some color choices.

Sooooo Jealous you get to ride great bikes and accessories from Tern. My Quickhaul was ordered with 500Wh battery because I just like to go where I want. It isn't hard to manage range anxiety but with the Orox it wouldn't even be a thought. I use my bike for almost everything I can and some things are a compromise but this Orox goes a big step further. Thanks Arleigh for showcasing this from your personal perspective. It is the best video of this bike I've seen.

My only quibble is that it should have headtube rack mounting points for a rack that doesn't turn with the front wheel. They've become pretty standard on cargo bikes and this one should definitely have them. Otherwise, this is the cargo ebike I didn't know I wanted.

Keen to hear more about the belt drive and gearbox model - chains & derailleurs are so fragile and high maintenance, and when touring or trekking, essential to get back home - minor damage can be a major hassle... and the chain cleaning and oiling...? nobody wants to do that at the end of a long day riding...

On attends ce nouveau Tern avec impatience. Le GSD avait des roues trop petites qui rendait le confort parfois rudimentaire. I really get that this is a whole lotta bike for a whole lotta different use cases which can be really cool. At the same time, I'd like to see more options allowing flex in one direction away from others. For example, I would never ride this bike on a trail. Mostly on streets and maybe some gravel. Some saddle and handle bar options that would allow the bike to flex back to a customer like me would be nice.

I would love to go off road for the sake of not dealing with other cars and even though it’s the city, there are nice routes along the coast and in Golden Gate Park that I’m not sure if a GSD would handle all that. @@BikeShopGirl thanks for the reply. I’ve been fortunate to meet with Logan at new wheels. Very knowledgeable and kind when he took me and my family to test ride the GSD, HSD, and quikhaul. At the moment I did not consider the orox. I started considering due: to pricing being closely match with GSD r14 and orox r14. The fact I live 15 blocks from ocean beach and the idea crossed my mind if I could ride in the beach to be away from all the cars (not that I would want to do anything to crazy either with my little one in the back), and lastly because I like the tech feature the orox has, similar to the HSD which I wish the GSD had as well.

I reached out to local dealers and was informed they can’t get a hold of that battery. I reached out to Tern themselves, spoke with Josh and was informed they no longer contract with that battery company. He told me i have to change out the whole battery system for over $900 plus cost to have tech install it. The bike was not cheap to begin with and a short 4 years later i am slap with this high cost. Ridiculous! I was desperate and agreed to buy the system. He said he will have to get back to me. I did not get the response yet. Will not buy tern product again. Most regions are only getting 27.5 as the full bike and 29 as the upgrade.

Running it 29x3 will speed up the steering (a lot). Still have the “suspension” but bike behaves “normal “ compared to a fat

What's wrong with the price? It's the same as two months of rent but lasts way longer.

This looks like such a no-brainer, until you see the price. Tern is banking on hitting the holy grail sweet-spot with this bike, and they are banking that consumers will pay for it. Sadly, I won't. Like so many, many, many other people, I will resort to buying a much cheaper bike, and living with the shortcomings. The Specialized Globe Haul LT gets kinda close to this level of utility (minus the off-road abilities), and it does so for nearly half the cost. The Tern Orox is to cargo bikes what the Bugatti Veyron is to supercars - technically great, but priced above the normal user, especially in the U.S. Sad.

I would say it’s more like a Volvo and the US is still focused on buying used Kia?

I had a similar thought! Still making payments on my GSD (that I absolutely love) but the Orox seems to have been designed just for me.

@@BikeShopGirl indeed, don't know if this is without or with all the accessories but 6.5 or 9 grand is steep for most of us for a bike. (at least for me it is). Luckily there's more out there thats fitted my budget.

@@BikeShopGirl not in the USA. Your local bike shop will have to remove the motor, box it up and ship it to an authorized repair facility, then they call you back with the repair estimate. Once you approve the work you get 2 separate bills for the bike shop and the bosch repair, then it's shipped back and reinstalled. Have fun waiting.

@@tjts1 I’m in the US and a Bosch mechanic/shop. It depends what is wrong, what level Bosch dealer you are working with, and how far your dealer is from the service center. Working with other e-bike systems it’s like wild Wild West of trying to get service work done, if anything gets done. What did you have happen to yours?

Great ebike and good spec really is a go anywhere ebike but the price is over $8000 that is way to much I know it's got a really good motor and big battery now don't get me wrong I love ebikes mine has changed my life but for the same price you could get 2 new entry level adventure motorcycle or 1 very good one now I know motorcycle are a different thing but a motorbike has alot more parts and takes more time to bilud so I think the price is crazy but that said I do think it is a very good ebike just a shame it's out of reach of alot of people 🚵⚡✌👍
