When I homeschooled my daughter we did year round 10-weeks school then 3 weeks off. We worked around holidays and tried to schedule appointments and such . Also we did a four day week. Worked well for us!

I need your opinion since you have done both the preschool book and the kindergarten prep, I don’t know which I should get. My daughter just turned 4 in May and she wants to start learning how to read. She can name all of the uppercase letters and most lowercase, but does not know what sound they make. She can sing the alphabet song. She can also count to 11. Based on these facts which book would you start with?! Thank you 😊

Hi Hannah! Thanks for taking the time to comment! My daughter turned 4 last fall, and we did their new Preschool course book throughout this year, until we finished that and the new Kindergarten Prep course book came out. I would personally recommend starting with the Preschool book because it has 90 lessons where they gently teach those important letter sounds, and review them again and again (in fun ways!) until the child has a good grasp of the sounds. There are other great skills in that Preschool book, too, like rhyming, shapes, colors, counting, etc. But I do love how they get into letter sounds (and have nice letter sounds videos that go along with most lessons. Then the Kindergarten Prep book is what they recommend next, after the Preschool book is mastered. The Kindergarten Prep book is just 30 lessons. That’s also why I’d recommend starting with the Preschool level - because your daughter will get great exposure to letter sounds over the 90 lessons till she really feels confident in them. And you can always speed up a bit in that Preschool book if she’s flying through and really getting it - some days when we were on a roll, Sophie did 2 and maybe 3 lessons in the Preschool book! Do you think this would cover handwriting or should I also buy the handwriting course separately?

I've personally really loved their little handwriting (even their Pre-Writing) notebooks. My daughter has loved them, too! I don't think it would hurt to get the handwriting book on the side. They start out with really cute little drawings and "paths" for your child to follow/trace with their pencil!
