There is a lot in Luminar but you don't have to learn it all right away to get great results. I have a playlist that is designed for new users which may help. kzfaq.info/sun/PLye10L-yi8hU9TDtAlzGAhDEPEDOedlVD&si=CXgogziS8IdreYNq

Jim...I'm new to Luminar Neo and sincerely appreciate this video. I've been looking for a capable photo editing software for my drone shots and Luminar Neo has been mentioned many times during my research. So...I used your 10% discount code to purchase the two year version. I'm looking forward to viewing your many "how to" videos. Thanks very much!

Thanks Jim for your presention! I notice you use tint in your process which I never think to use in my landscapes. Can you explain why and when you adjust tint!
@JimNix
@JimNix 6 ай бұрын
Thanks much and yes I like to use a little tint on sunset photos just because I like to have a little bit of magenta in the color mix. Thanks!

Hi Jim - a nicely put course. I believe you also use ON1 software, isn't it? If so, which one is better - Luminar Neo or ON1 ? What is your recommendation?

Hi Jim, thank you for the video I am new to Luminar Neo and learned a lot. Quick question on the sliders. Can you move them with you mouse wheel or do you just have to click and move with your mouse. I got use to using the sliders with the mouse wheel in Lightroom and would like to know if you can change a setting to enable the mouse wheel in Neo. Thanks for the videos.

Thanks and good question, and I do not know if you can do that. I never use a mouse (and don't have one) so I cannot try it, sorry.

You can click on Mask Actions>Show and it will show you the mask, and it will remain persistent while you keep masking on that same tool. But yes you would have to do this each time you open a new tool. Thanks.

Hi Jim, thanks for all your excellent work. I may have asked before but I still use Luminar AI to batch process dozens or hundreds of photos and wonder if I can use Neo to do the same - as simply. I open a folder in Luminar AI and start editing the image with effects like ligjt/color/shadows/sharpening/face light/enhance and few other effects. I make a template from this process. When done I apply it to the many photos from the same shoot. I copy all the effects added to the first photo and paste to all the other photos in the opened folder. Then I export those photos and deliver to my clients. CAN I DO THE SAME WITH NEO? Thanks! Richard
@JimNix
@JimNix 8 ай бұрын
Yeah pretty much. Just edit the first photo, and then in the Catalog view you can copy those adjustments to any other photo.

How would you compare the develop tool in Luminar Neo to Adobe camera roll in Lightroom? Is there a way to group the tools in Luminar Neo to make it easier to do the basic edits? Thanks for your video
@JimNix
@JimNix 5 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark and Develop in Luminar and Develop in LR are pretty similar. I don't have them both open at the moment to fully compare, but essentially they do the same thing. Broadly speaking it's in other areas where they differ more: masking, filters, etc. In Luminar you can right click to Favorite a filter and then it's added to your Favorites section which sits at the top of the filter stack. Thanks.

jim why isn't there an Auto button like in Lightroom? This can give beginners a good starting point for editing.

I am not sure. They have Accent AI which I think is intended for that purpose, but I do not use it that way.

Where do you find 'Develop Raw'

Great video… just what I needed to get started. I have an issue where once I have started the initial edit in Develop Raw, then close and reopen develop… the title stays as Develop Raw… any suggestions
@JimNix
@JimNix 8 ай бұрын
Thank you and yes I see that sometimes too. I just open another tool, grab the slider and that "activates" that tool, even without moving it past zero. Then I close that tool and since it has been "activated", Develop Raw is now Develop. That works for me.

Would you use the same procedure for people and portraits or is that totally different?
@JimNix
@JimNix 7 ай бұрын
I would start with Develop Raw and then possibly Supercontrast, and then go into the Portrait tools next, but it would depend on the image and each one would be slightly different I suspect.

I’m curious as to why you lower the opacity of the brush when dodging and burning. Wouldn’t leaving it at 100 then not adjusting exposure as much give the same results?
@JimNix
@JimNix 8 ай бұрын
Good question Bruce, and I am not sure that it makes a difference which way you do it. I just like the lower opacity because it feels like I am giving it a lighter touch that way vs what I can do via the amount. Mathematically, probably the same. But it "feels" like a lighter touch to me.
@bruceatkinson932
@bruceatkinson932 8 ай бұрын
@@JimNix Actually, when I think about it, it actually is a good idea because with lower opacity the slider would have to be moved further to achieve the same effect thus allowing a finer selection.
@JimNix
@JimNix 8 ай бұрын
@@bruceatkinson932 yep makes sense, just an old habit of mine which feels right to do but I can't always put into words why I do it 😀
