If they sack Poch it will be the usual one step forwards 2 steps back.
@hnaku8748Ай бұрын
Not if we had a clue and hired a better manager. He gets paid Ancelotti money. It's not the fans job to identify a manager, there's a reason we're fans. They're the ones taking our money and supposed to do the job. Other clubs do it. Our revenue is comfortably top 6, yet we're hanging on to prayers we finish close to that. Apply the same to players, directors, staff etc. I'll always judge the club by revenue. If we're bottom in that then I won't say a peep even if we're relegated.

It's still a risk. Gael Kakuta, Josh McEachran, etc. were all supposed to do the same, we even took a transfer ban. But football is fickle. Look at Odoi recently. The aim of the first team should always be to win in my opinion. Then you can supplement that with continual youth prospects, like Real Madrid have done. Not the other way around.
@christianjohn9359Ай бұрын
@@hnaku8748 I understand what you mean but we are not real. Real have the pull to build a u25 team and win still, they won’t sell their experience players because they don’t need to. Yet they have no idea where they are going I believe they will adopt a strategy similar to Chelsea. Actually most serious teams in Europe will be looking for players U25 this summer.

Boehly is so right about what’s happening here in the United States. Growth of viewership of EPL games here is phenomenal. Weekend mornings with the Premier League is becoming cultural in the U.S. “Breakfast at Wimbledon” became HUGE in the U.S. in the 1970’s and 80’s when American players were among the world’s best. And that spurred a boom in kids in the U.S. playing tennis. Well, since the 1980’s American kids have almost ALL been playing “soccer” beginning at VERY young ages. Those kids are adults now and their kids play “soccer.” As a Chelsea fan, my friends and I plan our Saturday mornings around watching Chelsea (or whoever else is playing) at restaurants or at each others’ houses. The summer series of pre-season EPL games are incredibly hot tickets. Streaming services and the time difference that allows for sports programming in the mornings when there are no competing sports content have finally been the keys to open the massive U.S. market to European football. My friends in the UK better prepare themselves for more U.S. ownership of EPL and European clubs because that “product” is only getting hotter in a growing U.S. market.

Also, the way that a lot of people (not a majority, but a chunk of people, including myself) find teams to support here in the USA are seeing british teams on fifa. We either like the kits, a player or two, or some other reason. The reason I started supporting Chelsea was because I was using my hometown club Real Salt Lake to beat my friend's liverpool side on FIFA 08, and I couldn't beat him. After getting thrashed 3 games in a row, I said, "Which team do you dislike the most?" He said Chelsea and I went on to beat him the next game with Chelsea. At the time, I thought Anelka was the top striker, and that Terry had the most American name, so I liked him the most. I had no idea that they had (semi) recently come off the best defensive record in the prem, had historic players, and had such deep history. I'm glad I've chosen right! I've since seen Stamford Bridge (on the outside, because we couldn't get tickes the day they beat Southampton to win the title in 2015), hosted parties to watch iconic finals with friends, and bantered with other "fans" of arsenal, liverpool, and city. Love being an American Blue!

Regarding the argument of where do these new players fit in. Do Man City Liverpool only have 11 top players. The better the squad the better the bench. The custodians, specially Todd has always said the right things. It's the execution we've failed at. The model is clear, they're trying to emulate something akin to Man City(if the words are true). But it doesn't matter who we try to emulate City or Real Madrid, as long as the execution is not correct there's no point. City finished 10th first season in their transition. But they had actually started from 9th. We've gone lot more backwards (3rd to 12th). If the results don't start coming next couple of seasons then I'll start having very serious doubts. We're already about to enter season 3. Roman had won 2 league titles in that time. I also genuinely believe the custodians themselves have no clue what they want from a manager. They talk about long term, but if they truly believed in that then Potter would still be here, who had a 5 year contract. We also paid £21m buyout clause to Brighton. Pochettino on the other hand only has a 2 year contract. And 1 year is done. The same questions as now is bound to pop up again next season. The way City hired their manager is also a lot different. Txiki Begiristain was with Pep in Barca and knew the ins and outs of what to expect and how brilliant he was. The director himself was proven. They planned and prepared to have him in place multiple seasons before he even actually joined. Pellegrini had won a league title for them, but they knew they still could do better. They didn't provide time for time's sake. They knew what they were doing. I don't have the smallest ounce of trust our upper hierarchy have anything similar currently. It's just feels wait and see most of the times.
