Listening to TOOL is like getting high without a drug.

I love how the differences between the 2 versions really show the headspace Maynard must have been in for them. In the studio version he must have been going through the thick of it with this person he was in a relationship with -- as the song sounds desperate and feverish. And in this version, it's years after the relationship is over... And it's mournful and sad, almost as if he's looking back on it and sort of missing it to a degree.

This song makes me cry covered in goosebumps. Like that feeling when you get a puppy for xmas. Pure joy.

When Maynard says “I want you to shut your eyes and go there and we’ll meet you on the other side” and you shut your eyes...every single one of us TooL fans have been there. Free goosebumps baby.!

Dude! Maynard's vocal IS an instrument in this heavenly group named TOOL... Each pieces completes each other.

Spot on analysis, Drew. If you can think back to a time when you had a really full, heartfelt, sobbing cry...there is a mental, emotional, and physical tax on the body and mind. "The calm after the storm".

My good friend is a diehard Dave Matthews fan, and huge Carter fan as he is a drummer as well. He knew of Tool and heard a few songs and I had an extra ticket for the release of Parabola in NYC so he said it’s not really my jam but I’ll go. Well we went on a double date and took a limo and had some tequila and a little smoke. He was all giddy and talkative until the show. After the show he hardly said a word. After we got home and the night ended he said “What the Hell kinda journey did you take me on”? I said that was the Tool rabbit hole! He said it changed him for the better and still thanks me today, 20 years later as he starts all his drum sessions with a little 46&2.

That really rapid palm drumming was Aloke Dutta ("a'lüke"), in a duet alongside Carey. Dutta taught him a lot of what he knows about tabla and Mandala drums

When it comes time for no quarter, do a back to back with led zeppelins original compared to Tool...

The quality is so good! I knew you would love it. Now if I'm going to put in a request do No Quarter off the same album.
