I agree with Dr Minus exactly, never know if successful or not, deaf stays forever. And I agree with Dr Burke if worries deaf communities will be less in 50 years , I'll not be here, my family/relatives are hearing but I'm first deaf & I accept it. Hopeful deaf people continue but up to them, want hearing or not, not easy...

There’s gene therapy for usher syndrome as well. They’re very close to do human trail. Hopefully soon in future because being a deaf and blind is tough for many!

People think that it’s an illness that needs to be fixed. Sad the procedure is only going to progress to “fix” it especially those who are born Deaf to hearing parents; the parents panic and want a solution.

I disagree with this due to that god made us this way and I refuse to accept this and I will probably in the future to raise money to block that type of “fix” and we do not want to be fix

I don’t believe In cochlear implants and fix like robots for the future. Deaf people is normal. I was born deaf that way I feel normal human being on the earth. If I die, God will create me to be a new hearing person but I must value to keep a beautiful American Sign language!

God doesn’t make mistakes and he always give us choices but this is man made mistake and whom I am to judge cuz I don’t like this and will not trust it

@@deafyoutube7700 agree with you. I don't believed in "god made". Just cause by science and anything of sick like serious flu or something that cause deafness. I don't mind to get my ear fixed because of i lost it too way long time ago, thanks to flu. But i rather to stay deaf for many reasons other than that what closed minded people ant to do with my life.

Thanks for this topic! As a hearing person who sees the beauty of sign and the amazing Deaf community, this brings mixed feelings to me. This is not an easy topic and debate is necessary. I appreciate the woman's comment that this scenario needs to be thought out. I'm interested in following this topic further.

It will be interesting to see lifelong stories of people who get this. Many such "cures" (surgery, CIs, hearing aides etc) do not result in the same as hearing people or a whole life lived like a hearing person. It would be a shame if they never got to experience sign language that they later need.

Lmao sign language is not universal unless Cued Speech (Cued Language Transliteration)

I wonder still approve of FDA in United States of America? I guess i feel my gut so well, the parents want so bad born baby being hearing not deaf parents hearing worried about children's deaf being hard life in the future journey. Parent's want to be happy with child can hearing communication. I know concerns about deaf culture grow numbers in the world. Be positive

VERY INTERESTING.. I AM GLAD THAT DOCTORS FIND A BETTER WAY TO BE SUCCESS FOR THE DEAF CHILDREN WHO CAN HEAR A LITTLE BIT.. I AM VERY HAPPY FOR THEM

Deafness isn't something to be necessarily eliminated.. it should be up to the kids to decide.. deaf culture is unique!! #preservedeafness
