So 7 hours ago before I went to bed, i was like to the team "yo guys we need an upscaler if we gonna expand" and the boys were like "yo you think we work for Mid or Summin" (trust me, they say "summin" like that) Anyway so they were on python all night. Now i wake and there theres an upscaler, im starting to think 'summin' up with them.

I wouldn't say MJ is the 'easiest' Ai Generator to use, but it certainly is probably the most highest quality in terms of image results and look. Definitely need an upscaler to improve resolution. This Topaz or LetsEnhance are pretty good for doing that.

Yeah true, I was trying to think of a good way to word it whilst making the video. I think you can get better results if you're an advanced stable diffusion user, whereas a simple prompt in MJ is so powerful. I agree too, a solid upscaler is still essential for print.

Printable images straight from the box. Thats a massive usability upgrade.

What I have been doing when I pan is then using custom zoom with zoom-1 and the original ratio I have been working on (usually 9:16) to add a minimal amount of increase so I can then upscale/pan/etc with it further.

It would have been nice to see a direct comparison between the 4x midjourney upscale and the topaz 4x upscale. For an apples to apples comparison.

Interesting - ive been using Gigapixel twice to get to my desired size (12,500 x 8,250), and irs ok. I'll have to try MJ to 4x, the Gigapixel it to the size i want. I'd be interested in seeing your Gigapixel settings 👍

I found that using it twice does a good job also. I generally stick with the standard upscaler model, as I find it does less weird stuff with the edges - but also allows for more weird artifacts in tiny spots. If I'm taking my time, I will literally try each and adjust until I get the best result - and even possible fix up a little in photoshop.

@wademcmaster Right, experimentation over, must have been something wrong with the source image, as it's working fine now. The only thing I changed was I opened my MidJourney upscaled-to-4x image on the web to save it. I then upscaled it to 12000x8250, looks great, either as a PNG or (much smaller file size) JPG with max quality. I left things on auto, preserved original file details (which I guess means compression and colour profile). Thanks for your replies on this, must have been a temporary aberration.

I have a older mac so I cannot run gig pixel will the 4x in MJ be enough for selling digital prints or for POD?

Some products will be fine, shirts etc may work if the design is smaller. Larger products maybe not.

Newbie. Just to confirm again. Upscale with MJ to 4x, then further upscale with topaz or other upscaler tool from 4x to 16x, meaning such images can b placed on biggest wall art sizes, even for big blankets too ??

That's right!That is the combination I use, although if using v6 on Midjourney, the 4x isn't really available so you'd have to stick with the 2x upscalers for that model, but topaz will still take that image and make it huge.

Is it possible to upscale old v5 midjourney images?

You can try this: go to an old image, click 'vary region', draw a box outside of the image and submit it. Then you should be able to upscale - but it may or may not turn out well.

Not sure mate, that's odd. I'd double check under /settings that you are on the right model (otherwise could be a bug?)

I agree actually. I still just prefer to download them and upscale with Topaz Gigapixel. It uses a decent chunk of GPU time too.

I only get the 4x option on very limited designs....the 2x option as well. I dont get that option for 85% of my designs..

Oh yeah, that's for v5 - 5.2 - V6 has a different upscaler.

v6 only upscales 2x at the moment :( It may cost a little, but I highly recommend Topaz Gigapixel or Photo AI, as it can 6x those imaes: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftyEfbOYqrjIeKc.htmlsi=PD_OzK6Byk_W8tgB
