Five months after her death, Brittany Maynard's voice can still be heard, fighting for everyone to have the right to end their own life if they choose.

if I had cancer I would take myself out if I was in tremendous amounts of pain I wouldn't need approval from a state my body my rules. If we are okay with euthanizing dogs that are in pain what is the difference between dog and human. I feel that it should be approved in all states but if not I feel as a person you should have that right to decide whether the state agrees or not

Forcing people to commit suicide instead of doing it with dignity is beyond my understanding. It is our life.... not anyone else- we should be able to do what we want. Geezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

No she did not. Brain cancer did. She didn't choose to die. She chose not to suffer.

Skarlet L who cares? She was dying of a terminal illness. I don’t care if it’s labeled suicide or death with dignity it was her right to do this.

I admire the resolve and courage that this woman demonstrated. But the thought occurred to me: What about those who choose to endure a natural death? John McCain for example, Ted Kennedy as another example, died from this same form of cancer. I feel conflicted about what dying with dignity means when I weigh the natural against the unnatural course of action. The natural path though humbling seems more noble and though humiliating seems more dignified by comparison.

Sorry for the lose pain and suffering of Britney family....I have like you a conviction and for me this act is not dignity is more like suicide.. I think is a sin to take your own life and may not see heaven for it! As last resort lean to God for a miracle or let Him do the call. You right , dying with dignity is a suffering to the end just like you mentioned. Your life is not yours and is not for you to say that's yet !

It is your right to feel that way, as it's my right to feel differently. That is exactly why the choice is so important. Do as you wish. This law wouldn't mandate you to die any way other than on your own terms. No-one, particularly those who believe in superstitions and gods have the right to define the choices of others when the stakes are so high.

Gary Spoon If she did not go, to a state, that allowed, for assisted suicide, then her, husband, mother, and anyone else, with her, at the time, would be charged, for assisting in her death, (by not stopping her), which is illegal.

This is a law that should be passed in every country in the world. The dying persons voice and their choice is what matters!

My opinion : You fight to the end like many others... Do not kill yourself before your term as you're not your own as you do not have the right to end it by taking some pill It is a form of suicide. The correct way is to get yourself ready with God , pray for miracles and He will leviate your pain . Let Him calling you home!

She got a lot of public blowback for her views. It’s interesting in this age of covid that people who excoriated someone to “suffer with dignity “ because she knew her life was ending and wanted others to have the same choice seem to think others who are healthy should die on the idea to help the economy. I’ll never understand the idiots on the right wing. They were upset she wanted agency. For herself.

If California had passed this very Personal choice. My grandmother would of been able to have her family there. Instead of in a motel room w some nurse I've never met. I'm thankful for that nurse. I just would of loved to be there to hold her.. Very scary choice to make. Seeing my father suffer for months before his passing due to terminal prostate cancer,I do realize he wouldn't of suffered how he did.. But that was also his choice who are we to judge? I'm also a Christian n the choice is also mine, I couldn't do it myself but I have never had terminal cancer eating my body away.very touchy subject..

I think each person must walk their own journey and is between them and God. I personally wouldnt make this choice as it goes against my personal beliefs. I do however support the right of each individual to do as they see fit according to their beliefs and circumstances.

This is not "suicide"... my sister committed suicide 2 years ago. End of life for terminal patients can be extremely painful... it can get so bad that they receive palliative sedation. I think it should be an individuals decision what path they take at end of life when they have a terminal diagnosis.
