I heard the same nonsense from traditional (recurve/longbow) archers when compound bows were introduced. What is important is to get more people interested in hunting in order to better protect our rights. What method they choose is not important. If crossbows get more hunters involved, that is a good thing. United we stand, narrow-minded we fall.

If you don't want to use a crossbow Don't use one But to take time to write out how you don't like is kind of silly I'm 67 started with recurve never forget me and my brother picking up our new black widows we were so proud I use the 10 point crossbow now Love it to death I'm just as proud of the deer turkey I take with it as I was with my black widow It's much easier using the xbow Much easier I don't care it's still a big change This isn't a team sport where we all have to compete with the same tools If you find it more enjoyable using the most primitive weapon you can use You win you have done something harder then me killing an animal withy fancy xbow You want us to tell the world you've accomplished a tougher task ok we will What I'm getting at is just go hunting Legal always legal it means nothing if you break the rules Don't worry so much about the other person

Chris, sorry for the delay! I don't have a comb extension on mine (yet), and it would certainly be helpful. I can get a decent cheek weld and see through the scope with the existing comb, but I'm definitely cheating it a bit. Thanks for watching! -JD

Maybe you’re in the prime of life, in your 20s and 30s, and don’t see the personal need for a crossbow. But wait until you pass through your 40s and into your 50s, 60s and 70s. You will not have the physical ability to shoot a traditional bow or compound as well. Every statistic and study on bowhunting participation recognizes a steep drop in participation as we age. It starts in our late 40s. It’s going to happen to you, too. If crossbows are legal in your state, you can keep hunting the archery season. Why exclude others from the opportunity to hunt because of your personal preferences for archery hunting. If you worry about crossbow hunters decimating the deer herd, you need to do some more research into state deer harvest data. Crossbows also allow youngsters, the handicapped, and the elderly to ethically harvest a deer. In our present political situation, we need to increase the number of people who hunt. Would you limit my opportunities to hunt on my own land because I am 69 years old and am only physically able to hunt with a crossbow during our archery season?

@@chrishaberl5780 well said chris, i'm 52 and had a motorcyle accident when i was 22 my left should was broke and the docotors forgot to fix it so it healed wrong but was able to draw my hoyt spyder 30 until about 5 years ago i have many other problems from the accident as well but now i am shooting an excaliber grizzly crossbow thats getting hard for me so i'm looking to buy a crossbow with a built in cranking system like tenpoint.

@@melvinsacromentoe Don't need the extra hassle for a doctor to verify I'm old, ditto for a handicapped shooter or a teen who can't pull a compound bow of adequate weight. I could say that all compound shooters should be required to submit verification from an eye doctor that they can clearly see their sight pins to prevent unnecessary misplaced shots on a deer, and then be required to demonstrate their shooting accuracy before they are allowed to receive a permit. Scandinavian countries do this already for firearm hunters. Do you see how ridiculous this becomes. Stringbow, compound, crossbow......why should it matter what type of archery equipment is used. If you worry about whether a crossbow shooter has an "unfair" advantage over a compound shooter, I could say the same about a compound shooter over a traditional shooter. Perhaps the solution is for State game departments to simply limit the number of deer any one shooter can take during the archery season using any type of device that launches an arrow.

@@chrishaberl5780 you can launch all the false equivalencies at me all you want, the fact is I can take an 8 year old girl that’s never shot anything in her life and get her shooting a pie plate at a 100 yards. Archery season was not created for something like that, why not just open up gun season from sept till December?
