The Volkswagen ID. Buzz trendily redefines what a large family MPV can be for the new EV era. Practicality is sacrificed on the altar of fashion but hey, this EV's fun but sensible, enviro-conscious but desirable. Which makes it very unusual indeed.
With the ID. Buzz, one of motoring's most iconic models, the Volkswagen Bus, has finally been reinvented. The old Type 2 model it references, in production for a quarter of a century between 1950 and 1975, is still (after the Beetle) Volkswagen's second most recognisable vehicle, variously known as the 'Camper', the 'Bulli' and the 'Hippie van' but most commonly called the 'Microbus' or more usually, just the 'Bus'. The Wolfsburg maker's been promising to recreate it since the turn of the century, first with the 'Microbus concept' of 2001, then with the 'Bulli concept' of 2011, followed by the 'BUDD-e' of 2015 and most recently the 'ID. Buzz Cargo concept' in 2018.
That's quite a gestation period, but Volkswagen's been waiting for the technology to properly recreate this vehicle for a new electrified era and needed to launch its ID. series of electric hatch models first. This ID. Buzz becomes the fourth of them, a trend-setting People Carrier that's quickly become the Internet's favourite MPV. Sold both in passenger-carrying MPV and commercial 'ID. Buzz Cargo' van forms, it's built in Hanover alongside the brand's more conventional Multivan MPV. And it's like no other model of its kind.

I found a rare 1/64 ID Buzz model online. Soon in the US we will get this vehicle which might popularize EV's as people look for family sized vehicles. I quit driving a couple of years ago, using public transport or having friends drive me, insurance and all that kept rising even though I never had a ticket on my record. Your review is quite enjoyable, I enjoy the reviews made on the other side of the 'pond' which I last visited in '17, I loved London but Spain and Italy I also loved, since I am Italian/Lithuanian/British from my immigrant roots that came to America, some in the 1600's, my British side but most at the turn of the 19th century into the 20th. That is why I enjoy your review--it is classy and I've loved autos and auto museums all of my six decades of life. I loved seeing European autos during my eight trips to Europe between '77 and '17--I found the Citroens very interesting as well as the Opals. I collect diecast auto models online, because in two decades, if I am still alive, I can sell them on 'Antiques Roadshow', lol. When I buy them, I think of the people who drive them, designed them and made the real vehicles as well as planes, trains, ships and so on.

Considering ID Buzz is a family van, what is the distance can ID Buzz goes with a family of 5 and full packed luggage ? Most reviews of EV vehicles have 1 - 2 people and with no luggage. Thanks.

That was a spectacular presentation. The most thorough of any car specs Fascinating that you pointed out that it truly is not environmental. I wish someone would come out with an inverter that would charge electric cars from solar panels that connected to the inverter. I wonder if you take the home charging unit and plug it into campsites if it would then run a refrigerator or any of the camping gear From an electric plug at a campsite? Now I don’t know what to buy. I would like the GTX, and a larger version that they’re going to offer in the United States with the basic seating, and I would rather have a camping option with the green color. Great tax write off, but are the CO2 emissions any different than any other vehicle? I didn’t like when the electricity went out in California. My friend had to stop at three charging stations before he found one that the electricity was working Or when there was a snow storm people driving Tesla’s had to leave their Tesla‘s on the freeway because it ran out of juice. in California with climate disasters what would happen if the electricity went out for eight days and then there was a fire and you wouldn’t be able to get out
