Ryan from ‪@OutofSpecPodcast‬, Coleton from ‪@OutofSpecDetailing‬ , and Max from ‪@outofspecguide‬ test drive the Tesla Model 3 refresh in the US and compare the RWD loaner model to Ryan's existing RWD from 2023. It's a marked upgrade in some ways, but these existing owners also have some reservations.

As a 2023 model Tesla y performance. watching your video was very impressive, and as for the new model 3, I would probably would never buy one . I think the model y performance is the best as it still has the stork it's still got the body's sensors, and the interior is very spacious . my personal opinion Tesla has lost the plot cutting corners will only result in cutting customers this is my opinion only.from down under Australia. I'm very happy with my model, and what makes it better I have the sexy button control in the console if only tesla did this he would've done better on sales. And leve the storks on the car.no horn that a downner. There are no fog lights, and I believe the sound system has been changed to less quality. It seems that the Chinese are going to leave Tesla for Dead not that I would buy a Chinese car anyway it would be very tempting for a lot of people as Chinese do put a lot more gadgets in and finished quality. not that I think it will last that long. I know my car is made in Shanghai, but it is not Chinese quality.

I appreciate the honesty in this video. Refreshing compared to all the hype videos about this car that almost seem like paid advertisements. To be fair, the points of view here are basically drawing comparison to the previous model and expectations based on hype reviews already put out there that raved about the car. Perhaps if you were not comparing to the previous model and just looked at the car on its own, the vibe would be different? Anyway, great, honest video. I recently purchased a 2023 model 3 on inventory sale and the tax credit and was on the fence about actually giving up the $12K of inventory sale and federal tax credit and wait for the refresh. I thought the differences did not warrant losing out on the savings. I'm glad I did but am still looking forward to seeing what Tesla does on the next refresh.

In his defence it has no stalks, no parking sensors (only 2022 has that), smaller glovebox, 1 less charging port, no heated middle seat in the back and no fog lights. While I do think the highland looks much better, that’s a lot of features to take away in an upgrade. Essentially you get a meaner front, interior led, an extra couple speakers and ventilated seats. I’m thinking of just taking mine to a body shop and getting the highland body kit.

About the glovebox, I've had a 2020 Model 3, and the USB drive for recording the cameras was not provided at the time, instead they allow you to buy your own and insert it in one of the slots inside the center console, under the screen. The open/close glovebox operation where also controled through the screen, but it was only protected in the valet mode. Later, with the moving of the USB key inside the glovebox, added a PIN to open, I guess to protect the videos from intruders or smthg. Probably thinking: "since we already have this protected glovebox, let's make it more of a secret space". SO in the end, there is a purpose for locking the glovebox by default, but it feels like it wasn't the original design.

I like how Tesla pushes the envelope on some things, but losing the stalks is a huge negative for this car, especially the turn signal. It’s just not necessary to make something that’s used constantly this cumbersome. They have had this for years on certain super cars and it has never been something people enjoyed.
@kens97sto171
@kens97sto171 4 ай бұрын
The road noise may just be tire differences also that the tires may be under that 500 mile break in time. Rear seat foot room reduction is likely due to the ventilation system in the front seats.. and is very unfortunate.. the fact the front seats felt higher... could be related to that, or maybe the seat padding is a bit thicker.. maybe the same in the back since Ryan also thought the headroom in back was reduced. Loss of the stalks is basically a deal killer for me. I drive 250+ miles a day in the city.. Not gonna retrain my brain to use stupid buttons, the shifter is also a downgrade.. you cant go from reverse to drive without coming to a complete stop... and it's a longer reach to the screen than just flicking the shift lever while the steering wheel is still returning back to center. Best option might be a older model 3 and do a strut upgrade to get a softer ride if that's what you want. I have a Bolt EV... and think the rear leg / foot and head room is better. Also much easier entry and exit.. Also normal door handles that you don't have to explain to people how they work.

Good job on the view, guys. Besides the cooled seats, and the rear bumper, seeing this video and your guys' impressions of the refresh, I feel validated in my purchase of a '23 M3P. One this I noticed that I don't know if you noticed was that the entire middle seat folds down rather than a small section of the middle seat like in the old M3, which would make for a center armrest that has more room for either passenger.

They did angle the rear seat cushion more to support your thighs, but this still isn't enough for tall people. The floor is way too high in the rear of a Model 3 for it to be comfortable for most adult passengers. It's hard to feel relaxed when your knees are in your mouth! I really don't know how people say these are good rideshare cars, Model Y fixes this problem entirely. Even my 5'3" wife said the floor is too high to be comfortable in the rear of a Model 3.

I feel as if they are cutting things out to reduce cost but selling it as an upgrade. We removed all this stuff, charge the same or more and it’s better. Glove box magnet and no center arm rest latch. That’s just cheap cost cutting. Not sure I want to buy a car that they try to cheapen up so much. Tail lights are really just a lesser version of the old, cutting down on plastic, thus cheaper. Same for bumper. Redesign appears to be to cut out fog lights and make it cheaper to produce more than style upgrade.

And no HUD either, and neither the rout guide behind the steering wheel. I find it lovely in my BMW i4 eDrive 40 And as for missing indicator stalk, it's a deal-breaker for many. Fumbling on a turned wheel at a roundabout is dangerous. It may not be so important in the US market but necessary in Europe, UK etc with a lot of roundabouts. Someone mentioned this below on Bjørn Nyland’s review and is so spot on.... Instead of always knowing where to find the blinker stalks, you now have 360 degrees of possible positions and in 180 degrees of the positions the buttons will be upside down. Also, why have icons, they are only pointing in the correct direction when the steering wheel is levelled correctly, and why is the first button at the top the right blinker? Impossible to use in heavy traffic driving through roundabouts, accidents will happen due to drivers not checking the road for other cars in blind spots or pedestrians crossing the road as the driver needs to look down and try to find where the buttons are located and which one to use. If the driver manages to actually turn on the blinkers, a large portion will signal in the wrong direction and can cause other accidents due to other drivers assuming the car is going in that direction.

Compared to a 2017/2018 M3 it's probably a big improvement, but Tesla does incremental changes all the time, so against a 2023 M3 it's not a big step up. I am much more excited to get my $7500 tax credit on my 2023 M3 (plus the $2500 I got off for inventory stock) vs no credit on the Highland. I do like the looks better of the Highland, but not worth almost $10k more to me.

In November 2021 I ordered a Tesla model three. Without seeing it or without sitting in it. After going to a Tesla facility and sitting in the backseat of a model three. My feet were not able to go underneath the seat, and my legs were cramped. I’m 61 and 220 pounds. After sitting in the model Y I cancel my order in place one for a Tesla model Y. My point being is there has never been any room in the backseat of a model three and there’s no way you can put your feet under the driver side seat. I think it’s been a while Colton since you sat in the backseat of your model three.

The spelled-out logo mod is a thing for a long time now. Most people have been doing it as an homage to the original roadster, so it's not really a pre-highland people copying highland thing. In fact, the ambient lighting mods also existed for years now. Also, aftermarket rear screen options have been a thing since Model X got them. Almost feels like Tesla actually watched and listened to what people change in their car and just added them from the factory during their refresh.

Lol "Tesla actually watched and listened to what people..." got me rolling on the floor. Tesla is one of the most arrogant car manufacturer and widely disconnected from what the majority of people really want. The tech-enthusiast had to adapt to Tesla, the flaws and failures, the closed ecosystem and what not, and for them it is part of the fun. For the majority of car buyers, the mass market, Tesla has lost so much appeal over the years, especially with the latest facelifts und software "updates". They have become the boring, kinda outdated and very quirky but not necessarily (ergonomically) well thought out EVs. The new facelift Model 3 and thr Cybertruck are the pinnacle of this development.

This is so disappointing. I have a 2019. When i bought it i assumed that in five years the new model would be significantly improved and I'd do a tradein but instead its worse. I have parking sensors, which i rely on, and stalks. This one doesn't have either. I'm happy with the noise level in my M3, its gotten better since i replaced my tires. They are still the Michelin Primacys but the new ones have foam i don't think the originals did in 2019. I'm also happy with my handling. So noise and handling aren't reasons to trade in. Back in 2019 I had also assumed that there would be a significant range improvement by now. This one is a little better but not by so much that it would make any difference. If it was a 100 miles better that would be meaningful but 30 miles makes zero difference as to the number of Supercharger stops you make. Finally i have a suspicion that the motors are crappier on the new one. They've dropped the top speed by 20 miles an hour. Why did they do that? Something is shittier, maybe the motors, maybe its those Hankook tires. I worry that theyve cheapened the motors and they won't be as durable as the ones in my car. As things stand now I'll be keeping my old car until something major breaks or someone else comes out with a significantly better car that also has a NACS connector

Like anything, the upgrades are worth it if they apply to you. Personally, most of the upgrades are gimmicky or don’t apply to me. Ex: rear screen, rare anyone rides in back. If so it’s any adult. Screen pointless. Never had cooled seats, never had issue with sweating in seat during summer, pointless. I don’t need ambient lighting. It’s cool for a minute. No turn signal stalk, that will be bad long term as people try to drive, text, film, and now push a small space on the wheel while turning.
