Excellent video footage, great camera angle. We had auger type trucks in The Netherlands in the 1970's with rear mounted augers. Very effective in ripping the rubbish apart.

Brilliant camera angle thanks for that . We used to use something similar here in Ireland. But ours were rear loaders . Very efficient at breaking up large items and could pack an unbelievable load. Specially in the wet. . But useless if you saw something you wanted . You had to be lightning fast or it'd be chewed up and away

That’s exactly why I was nervous mounting my GoPro in there 😂

@@TheGarboGetter233 You might try using a piece of string (I use an old shoelace) wrapped around your magnet mount and tied to something solid as a safety chain for peace of mind.

Clean Ireland Recycling had loads of these Auger rear loaders, they are called HALLER LOTOS, most of them now are replaced with mercedes econic with Dennis Twin Pack bodies

My favorite packers are, in no particular order: ASMR Scorpion Pak. Scoops the garbage up from behind and crushes it into the back of the machine's hopper. Can go through a wide variety of trash. They demoed this model in Australia but the council didn't like it, said it was high maintenance because of the hydraulics. Superior Pak: This is a pendulum packer that uses a rotating wedge that pushes and crushes the garbage into the back of the machine. Cleanaway and some other garbage collection agencies in Australia use this packer. It packed a 240 litre wheelie bin on Nitro Busa's channel, once. If the bin falls into this packer, better to leave it there, no chance to get it back out again! It crushed the entire bin, wheels and all, including a reinforced plastic lip around the top of the bin, sideways, and a metal rod used to hold the wheels on. It just took a short while to crush it all in, but it eventually got the entire bin into the back of the truck. Rotopress: A large rotating barrel with an auger designed to pull in and compact and store the garbage in itself. This packer can handle a wide variety of garbage. Paddle packer: It has a post that swings from side to side, with a wedge shaped hammer on top of it. Pushes the garbage very efficiently into the back of the machine. Can pack some bulky items.

And of course, the packer featured in the videos on this channel. I'm pretty much a fan of anything that has hydraulics or motors in it that compact and press garbage. I grew up watching rear blade packers, when a blade packer pinches a mattress, the packer will leave a crease in the mattress where it pressed against it with up to 90 thousand pounds of force. Mattresses are springy but not that tough! 😊👍

Great video! What's that little adjustable opening to the right of the rear wall for? Saw that on another of your vids but forgot to ask. Can you give me some insight? Thanks!!!
@TheGarboGetter233 Жыл бұрын
That’s what I call the magic door so if I get something big or stubborn. Just open it up and keep rollin. Helps with the longevity of the auger also. This video I was about 80% packed out with 12.5 tons.

@poland347 nice! These rotopaks are cool to watch and new to me. I hope you can demonstrate the magic door sometime. Keep the great vids coming!!

How far into the box does the auger go? Is it the entire length of the box?

Damn.. almost no recycling. Something you' will see up here in the Netherlands.

Very efficient way of compressing. But i hope this goes to a mrf first, because way too much recyclables in there.
@robertwalton10549 ай бұрын
It does not, everything goes to the landfill

@@robertwalton1054 shame. Here in europe we have to do more and more things "for the environment". But it is all for nothing if other countries don't do anything or dump it in the sea like in india.
@robertwalton10549 ай бұрын
@TheShellshock67 now this isn't all of America. But in a lot of places, it costs more to recycle then you get paid for it so companies or cities choose not to offer it

Unfortunately this truck doesn’t take bulk items like that. The metal frame could damage the auger. We have a guy that drives a knuckle boom for that stuff.
