I used to work at Big Lots, and normally working there kind of sours the experience. But I LOVE it there! You went over mainly the furniture, but what I think is great is that the food items sold at big lots are applicable for the same coupons, and if an item gets close to the expiration date, they sell it for up to 50% off!

Why do you suppose that is? I have always loved Big lots. I know at ours the employees did not look happy to be there at all. Their Manager was not nice nor professional. I felt bad for them. It was Very uncomfortable. I didn’t go back for about a year. I Went recently all new staff and completely different atmosphere. Don’t know about management.🤷‍♀️

@@suzyshoemaker7804 it’s a very thankless job. We’re constantly pressured to sell their credit cards and get memberships for the rewards. There’s no benefit to us and we get in trouble if we don’t reach their often ridiculous goals. They need a new model, to be honest. And management isn’t pressured to sell them like everyone else. So the pressure falls on those making the least money.

@@suzyshoemaker7804 Echoing "our great little life", its a lot of marketing the credit card and the rewards program. The entire job is based around that. If youre not good at it, you're chastized by management. However, for me, I was GREAT at marketing rewards and the credit card. And as such, they piled responsibilities onto me. I was a minor at the time, and I worked the job of 3 managers. A lot of it has to do with how strict management is, but store policy as a whole for their employees is a nightmare

Hi Kathryn I hope you still do Dollar Tree videos. 1.25 is still a good deal. With all this inflation and astronomical shipping costs they didn't have a choice. I can't afford 8.99 or more for organizing containers since I am on a fixed income. I will stick with Dollar Tree for those.

Hi Melissa, I agree, $10, $12, $20 for things? Certainly not doing things on a dime! I’m in middle of divorce w/child, need to save BIG, plus IKEA has baskets and containers and organizational items for way cheaper! All that said, Kathryn, if you see this, we still love your videos, and you! Would love another or more IKEA videos, and any place keeping things as cheap as possible! Target dollar spot, for $1, $3, $5, is a splurge some months, but they have awesome items. Dollar tree and IKEA, and 99cent stores if anyone has them near you, provide great finds! And ….you are enough and loved.💕

Big Lots prices on outdoor furniture is the same as Home depot or Lowes until the end of summer then they blow it out what maybe left. Except for the cushions they come back next year. Sales are good. My favorite item is the big box of Contractor bags. Now that is a deal. Never on sale and the price going up up, its still a bargain.

You looked at different things than what I usually do at Big Lots. My last trip was to pick up snacks. They have some different ones than you usually find at the grocery store. They have some good kitchen items like utensils and pans. They have nice bed pillows, sheets, and towels. They have a nice selection of pet items, too.

It is so funny that I just watched this and I left Big Lots about 1 hour ago. They have several items for $1 that are bigger and better than dollar 25 tree. I work right by a BL and go there during lunch. A lot of things in my house are from there.

YEEEEAARS ago most of Big Lots electronics used to be refurbished items and I think that idea may still be in the back of some people’s minds. They’ve definitely upped their game quality wise with all of their merchandise. We bought a patio set there a few years ago and the manager was telling us how their buyers are going to better places and being much more selective about bringing higher end merchandise to the stores. I LOVE them for wall art, home decor items, and some of their international food items they carry too 😍

Big lots just opened a store in our town on the 17th of this month. I went that day and was shocked at all of the stuff they carry. I signed up for the big rewards program the night before they opened and used the coupon that day. The staff was very friendly and the store was setup very nicely. I bought stuff and saved money at the same time. Two thumbs up to big lots. I am also a dollar tree shopper.

As a current biglots employee. Here is a few things most people don't know. Biglots sales start on a Saturday and end on a Saturday. Biglots WILL let you do a price hold on items. Biglots starts put out spring out door items right after Christmas. The clearance isles have great finds.

Oh my goosh, I stumbled on this purely accidental! Buuuut, I looove Big Lots! As a matter of fact, after TWO YEARS of searching, I found my new shower curtains and I finally bought new office furniture and I got it all there!!! 👍 🤩 Once I figure out all that I AM keeping, I'll go back for storage bins and baskets and pretty stuff to organize!!!

My Big Lots is too expensive and I have tried to buy/order things and they are always “currently unavailable in either store”. I stopped going due to rude customer service. They also won’t sell floor display items. The clearance items are up to the person working….I picked up outdoor cushions that were on the clearance shelf. I put them in my cart and when I checked out they would not honor the clearance price. So I just left them in my cart and left.

Sometimes customers drop items they don't want anywhere they happen to be ... even the clearance section. Unfortunately, the store workers have no way of preventing shoppers from doing that. Most clearance items are clearly marked with the clearance price, so if you don't see a clearance price, I would inquire if you find any more un-marked clearance items before you get to the register.

I have to two Big Lots in town and go there all the time. Never come out of there empty handed. Pictures, pillows and throws, decorations and modern plants. They’ve added a classiness to their inventory.

Just a kind suggestion, but usually when people have a hard time organizing their things its because they have too much of it. Getting rid of at least 50% makes a huge difference. I'm not saying be a minimalist, but the fewer things you have, the less there is to take care of :)

@@momof2momof2 Absolutely, couldn’t agree more that that’s the primary reason! I’ve been in the process of purging the last several days and it’s already making a difference. Maintaining it and getting the other members of my home to commit to the same is the other challenge! Thanks for your comment♥️

Whoa!!! Your store is about a MILLION times better than mine!!! I assumed that all Big Lots stores sucked lol. Mine has ZERO organization - mostly furniture & groceries, TINY amount of clothing. I think all stores (no matter the store) in my crappy town just get the dregs of stuff from other better stores. 😔

I agree. My nearest store has slim pickings. The newer stores opening are nicer just like one in her video. A new store is opened an hour away from and it looks like hers; it is huge store front.

Big Lots has pretty good deals on bedsheet sets as well as pots, pans, and other cookware. We got a whole bed in a bag set for like $12.00. That included the comforter, top sheet, fitted sheet, pillow covers, and bed skirt. We got more than one pan there at between $8.00 to $15.00 each and these were for large pans.

I just watched your video in the habitat for humanity restore. So great to see that place get some publicly. They are awesome! You lucked out leaving then coming back and still getting your item. Like any thrift store things change every day so if you like it you should get it because it might be gone tomorrow. Anyway love watching you and your family. Keep it up.
