Great insight into what the dog was doing? Or not. Most protection is more effective actually close to the problem site, problem individuals are more likely to be identified & sorted out. Rover Kangal might have been on French Leave, or locating rubbish bins too. A wolf 30 miles away minding it's own business is not a problem, and removing it might even cause problems by creating vacancies for problem individuals.

The reason in the past the wolfs were hunted to near extinction was due to ranchers loosing their heard and going bankrupted. It is the same issue with Grizzly bears killing live stock. When I was a child in Colorado a rancher friend on my Dad had a bear come into the heard and kill 10 to 15 cows by ripping the cows head off, this is why Grizzley were hunted down. Also this same rancher was on the road when we pulled up getting his rifle out. A crazed bear was tearing thing aprt I sean a 4" diameter pine tree ripped down by this bear. He killed the bear as his cows were just 75 yard from the bear. ALL OF THESE DAMN ACTIVIST NEED TO OWN A RANCH WHERE THEY REINTRODUCED WOLVES AND GRIZZLY BEARS AND TRY TO HAVE AND KEEP A COW HEARD SAFE AS THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE THEIR LIVING. I BET THEIR VIEWPOINT WOULD CHANGE. One other thing my grandfathers friend was walking a trail in the mountains to go to the saturday food market in Lake George Colorado. He never showed up my grandfather went looking and found him dead where a bear had ripped him apart.

Wolves kill livestock when they are hunted. Wolves kill people when they are not hunted. Anyone, state and federal, who is responsible for re-releasing wolves, and that wolf kills or maims anyone, should go to prison for life for negligent homicide. It is a pernicious lie that wolves have not killed Americans in Lower 48. A federal FWS Predator Control Officer personally told me that Pyrenees dogs predate as much as wild dogs will, but on other people's animals and that he caught a lot of them while trapping. Flags off the fence are a sad pathetic joke. The Endangered Species Act's anti social affects deindustrializing America put us in staggering debt, stops high paying jobs and was authored by bribery convict Pete Williams who likely sold out to the Russians to get the ESA act passed. Contemporaneously, Krushchev bragged that the Soviets would achieve its goals against the US without international violence. IMO, wolf releases are a statutory form of psychosociopathy. The word Stakeholder does not mean what the enviros claim it means. Enviro groups have no stake in wolf releases, only Americans.

I think this wolf issue is a perfect example for where this country is at internally. A lot of passion and we all love animals. Weather its we love predators or we love prey. Just cant agree on the management strategy. Something needs to be done but which way do we go?

Depends on how much you trust "lab grown meat" cause that's gonna be all that's available pretty quick. The wolves have decimated elk herds in norther and central idaho and the wreak havoc on livestock. One of the only animals that kills just for fun.

@@jacktrout5807 Decimated? Deer in the US seem seriously overpopulated if videos are anything like true. Despite plenty of .hunting, and no doubt some illegal efforts. Having seen the comments interfering US Safari Club input to pest management elsewhere in the world it's evident self interest to keep populations at upper pest levels is desired by many "hunters". And seeing a few killed by wolves would infuriate the inept, who would have little chance of recognising animals being moved around & becoming a bit wary vs "decimated". Wolves don't usually kill for fun, it's wasting energy, and wolves don't have burger king and Kentucky fry guts to waddle intelligently around with.

@@johnmead8437 your response is extrachromosomal to the extent that a reply is probably futile. But here goes anyway. 1st I was talking about elk (look up the difference between elk and deer) and I was talking about Northern and Central Idaho (not the entire us). The entire US is largely devoid of wolves but Idaho has many especially in northern and Central Idaho. That's why I spoke of that area specifically. 2nd . Wolves do kill for fun or sport this is well documented its happened several times where a pack of wolves killed a whole flock (150 plus) of sheep in one night. 3rd. You don't know as much about wildlife, wildlife management, predators, or livestock and the interactions there of as you think you do. The main reason for this is you're not a participant. So for you to call someone "inept" is absurd.

Minnesota could use a wolf plan, but we have Tim Walz as governor. He is a liberal and refuses to allow a wolf hunt even tho the DNR has tried for 3 years to get a wolf hunt. Our deer population is very low because of the population of wolves. Minnesota has a wolf population of approx. 3500 wolf. Walz is killing the deer population in Minnesota.
@johnmead8437
@johnmead8437 5 ай бұрын
Some older information indicates the current US deer population is way overpopulated. Without better data it could be the wolves are doing a good job. If indeed the deer population is low. From another country where wild mammals are pests, the hunter groups are always moaning about low populations (including deer) while the deer etc have absolutely destroyed the vegetation and in some places, soils, they are so overpopulated. Native ecosystems have not been protected by the hunters, who loudly assert they are vastly better than they are. Seeing US Safari Club weighing in on some of this (foreign interference) shows how ignorant some US hunters are also. Provide victims for canned hunts though, amusing to see pompous suckers posing with dead tame farmed stags specifically bred for big antlers, having paid ridiculous money to show how good they are. Incidentally, with legally imported firearms and correct firearm possession documentation, and a hunting permit for public land (no cost) they can hut independently for free, and have a chance of getting a real trophy wild animal, or shoot as many as they desire.

At least they're showing someone who doesn't want Wolves 100% gone. Wolves are extremely good overall for the wellbeing of the land. Obviously you do have to find a way to help with the number of them once it reaches a certain level, whether that be through relocation or killing, but good to see Ranchers more in the middle of it rather than wanting a complete culling. And in case anyone isn't aware of what wolves do when in their natural environment, look at how it changed Yellowstone with the reintroduction. Beavers came back, overgrazing was no longer a thing for herds that no natural predator at that point, which changed how and where water went, etc. Highly recommend watching a video on it though, because it's one thing to see the text about it, and then see a before an after of how everything changed because of it. There's a reason they say wolves are considered an umbrella species.

They will hunt to train there young, not being hungry they will eat the tongue and unborn embryo. Whan a pack brings down its pray,, one wolf has nose another has the tail while the others go for throat and stomach. It's a wonder site to see with intestines wrapped around brush and animal eaten alive. Since making Ariel wolf hunting illegal the caribou and moose hurds of Alaska are a fraction of there normal population. People saving wolves are fools at best.

80% of caribou and moose hurds calfs are going to preditors. The numbers are a fraction of what they were when they made Ariel wolf hunting illegal. It is a sight that must be seen to truly appreciate the wolf. Seen them train there young to hunt, not being hungry they will eat the tongue and unborn embryo and leave the rest. Watch them take down an animal with gut torn open , intestines wrapped around brush while being eaten, still alive. Do some research.

The research your pointing to was debunked by actual wildlife biologists not someone pushing a narrative. There is such a simple solution for this. The are objectives for the number of wolves in Montana. We have met that number and now exceeded it many times over. Reduce numbers. Keep the numbers at the planned objective. The only reason this is even a controversial statement is the extremist animal rights groups just want as many wolves as possible without any regard for other species or hunters, or basically anyone but themselves and their interest. I am NOT saying to remove every wolf on the mountain. But remove wolves back to the objective numbers. Then everyone will be happier and we can all Co exist. Rancher, hunter, wolf advocate.

At least in Idaho I can say that wolf management is primarily in the hands of the state F+G and hunters and trappers. State F+G is solely funded by hunter license cost. The bulk of the wolves taken off the landscape to manage our wolf population to 1300-1500 has been by trappers. F4WM has really helped pay trappers for harvested wolves, all monies raised by the private sector. USFW has done nothing to help with cost.

There is a big difference between private lands and public lands. The private lands in wolf country should have prison-like tall solid steel bar fences, funding should come from FDA (we spent $800 billions on Ukraine in 2 years). While the public lands are owned by all the people in the US, if portions are designated as seasonal ranching areas, same tall steel fences need to be installed for the ranchers. Just like Trump's wall on the border, it works. All these costs will be less than 25% of the money wasted on pointless military aids overseas. 🤔🤨🙄😉😎

Montanans are fond of saying that there are more cattle than people in the state. There are 1,000,000 people here. A livestock loss of 103 in 2022 seems minimal compared to the livestock population. What your report doesn’t cover is the fact that Gianforte’s hand-picked Wildlife Commission reflects ONLY ranching and sports hunting interest, supported by his new FWP Director, Dustin Temple, is committed to mismanagement of every species, statewide.
