Because unlike other continents, Asia have a big 5 comprising of Korea Japan Australia Saudi and Iran who are head and shoulders above everyone. They almost always NEVER get upsetted by an underdog and miss out on the world cup. Boring, but that's the reality.

We we're dogshit against Afghanistan, a team created in less than 2-3 months just for these FIFA WC qualifiers, and pretty average throughout the Kuwait matches. We were expected by everyone to comfortably finish second, and qualify for the next round, and we fell short miserably. The fact that we didn't score a single goal in the AFC Asian Cup, and also haven't scored from the open play since November 2023 except for that controversial Qatar game, speaks volumes. And now, the coach gave up, the only genuine guy remaining the system. I can write even more, but it's absolutely useless. It's hopeless, now. Hopeless, for a long time. Peace.

the reality is that there already are/have been situations where north Koreans can enter other countries either for sports or working abroad, but they usually don't defect that way. Sadly if any of these people defect they would most likely severely punish their family back at home to make an example out of them.

For Asia and Africa there are a heck a lot of nations to play with. Also unlike Europe they have to go through a lot of different rounds to qualify and eventually intercontinental play-offs.

Probably because the Euro is 2 whole years after the previous World up, and they do 10 match days for Euro qualifiers and playoffs too, and thru also do Nations League every two years Asia only has a single Asian Cup every four years with qualifiers being part of the World Cup qualifiers, Africa has two African Cups in each 4 year cycle but they are the year after and the year before a World Cup, so most of their World Cup qualifications happen in the year between the two AFCONs Short answer, different confederation have a different system for confedrational championships and qualifications, so some start earlier than others

Europe has two similar qualifying formulas for continental and world tournaments: have groups of 5-6 teams, some teams qualify, some get into short playoffs. Asia uses first two rounds of their multistage qualifying tournament to split teams into two tiers. First tier (the 18 teams mentioned here) get direct qualification for the continental tournament and determine the world cup representatives from them. Second tier plays for the continental qualification in the meantime. Africa has two parallel schedules: one for the World Cup, one for the AFCON. Like, for example, they have played now first part of the World Cup qualifiers, now they will play AFCON qualis this year and later they will resume the World Cup qualification. So yeah, they begin early, but they make a pause, somewhat more confusing thing. South America only has world qualifiers, therefore they play double the amount of games, when compared to Europe, but there's no other qualification for them. CONCACAF - yeah, that's confusing. They have Gold Cup qualis, LoN, World Cup...
