One of the main reasons I've become a Patreon member of Easy Russian to learn Russian is that unlike other KZfaq channels dedicated to learning the Russian language, Easy Russian has not shied away from topics related to Russia's war in Ukraine. The other Russian language learning channels barely mention the war and produce "fluff" pieces. It's their subtle way of saying "let's just move on and ignore the tragedy that Russia is causing". In contrast, Easy Russian has tackled difficult reminders that a war is going on. I've been learning Russian for awhile. When the "special military operation" started in Ukraine, I seriously considered abandoning my Russian studies as I became more and more disgusted by the atrocities occurring in Ukraine. Easy Russian has kept me engaged as I tackle my own internal conflict about the Russian language and what it, Russia, its people, history, and culture represents. To everyone at Easy Russian, thank you! I for one want you to keep making this type of content.

Absolutely! I actually liked Russia before 2014, but after they did what they did, I no longer wanted to learn the language. I got back to it as a way to help Ukrainians since I couldn't easily learn Ukrainian from scratch. Russian will be useful after the war, as we look to rebuild peace between nations. It won't be easy, but with Putin gone, there will be some chance perhaps to move towards some semblance of reconciliation.

The irony is that the government of Ukraine has been trying to slowly strangle Russian on its territory since long before 2014. In fact in 1994 Donetsk and Lugansk voted for autonomy, in accordance with the Ukrainian constitution of the time, precisely over Kiev's banning the use of Russian in official settings.

But you weren't disgusted about war in Donbass, or in Gaza, because it's profitable to your country not to talk bad about these wars. Destroying Gaza it's OK, because among hundreds thousands of civilians may be some terrorists. However, bombing fortified areas of the Ukrainian soldiers is disgusting, because among them may be some civilians... Other Easy Languages channels help you to learn the language while Easy Russian is just engaged in pro-Western propaganda
