As an ex chef, never, ever put pots and pans or Knives in the dishwasher. Just a tip from me. I watch so many KZfaq creators do this and I’m like NO don’t do it. And always rinse the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. Hubs used to repair appliances on the side, oh the gross horror stories he’d tell me 🙄Dorene Weiss

Cannot agree more with you! My knife set specifically stated, no dishwasher! Another tip, no fabric softener on towels=less absorbent.

I always hand wash all my pots and pans, but I've never heard of not putting knifes in the dishwasher...what is the reasoning behind that?

I was raised without a dish washer, we washed, towel dried, and everything was put away. Dish washers do not throughly clear glass, utensils, plates. When I was growing up, my mother used a small amount of bleach in her dish water. I still do the same. It cuts grease and removes bacteria and germs. The dish cloth is sanitized as well. Of course, you always rinse your washed items. 😊😊

@@CurlyGirlzBeauty when you spend $100-200 on a quality knife 🔪 its proven that the dishwasher can destroy the finish of it.

A tip with the Christmas tree. Once you get the tree home, make a fresh cut on the trunk again before putting it in the stand. I was told a film forms over the trunk once it is cut and it won't soak up the water.

I just saw a video after we have been getting real trees for years that after you get it home and fresh cut it your supposed to use boiling water the first time to open it up so it'll get more water. I'm gonna try it next year but we've only had one tree get super brown a few years ago so we've been lucky.

When I was 3 we slept over at my grandmas and all the presents were there they woke up to me saying que lo habrá que lo habra (open it open it ) over and over as to cheering myself on to open all the gifts 🤣 I ended up opening everyone’s gifts , my cousins were pretty mad the adults were laughing and in shocked and to this day as a 31 year old I’m still reminded of it .

Omg I would CRY if my kids opened all the gifts without me. 😂 My oldest is 12 so it means a lot to me to hold onto all the magic for my other 3 littles ones. I like getting my organizers from TJmax! I've heard not to put pots and pans in the dishwasher either but I do most of the time. 😅 especially when the dishes are overflowing and I feel overwhelmed, I just put it all in the dishwasher, like no girl BYE. 😂😂😂

We had the most overwhelming amount of clothes for the 2 of us. Last spring I adopted a 5 item per clothing category system. My husband had over 30 nasty work T-shirts. He has a laundry service for work. He didn't need that many. With the 5 item limit we discovered not only was I not doing 10 loads of laundry per week but our walk in closet can actually be walked in to!

We really enforced stockings only until Mom and Dad came out to open the wrapped presents; we hung the stockings when we put up Christmas, then on Christmas Eve, when all the kids were sound asleep (we made sure to go out and be really active that day like tubing, swimming, hiking, so we would have exhausted kiddies that night), then we would stuff their stockings and put them under the tree leaning against their unwrapped Santa gift- these they could crazy with until we woke up; we made sure what was in the stockings were things to occupy their minds and hands like mini Lego’s, small puzzles, a book or coloring book, their favorite piece of fruit and a small package of their favorite candy. Hint for the tree, when you get it home and ready to put it in the stand, cut the bottom of the trunk at a slight angle, this opens the pores again so it can absorb water, if you don’t, then that old cut part has “scabbed” over and prevents water being absorbed- hence extremely dead and dry tree. My house just got de-Christmased and I am waiting until next weekend to start redecorating but making sure I leave space for Valentines Day decor in a few weeks so I am not always putting up and taking down over the next few months.

Growing up my parents had a Christmas morning rule that nobody would enter the living room until my parents went in first. Then we talked about the birth of Christ, and the reason we celebrate Christmas. Years later I realized that this allowed me parents to get the best view of our reaction to the joy of seeing our gifts. Now with my own children one Christmas my daughter just had a checklist reaction like yeah I got this I got that and that was odd for her. Later on she admitted that she had already looked at all of the presents before waking anyone up. So I know that feeling of disappointment.

You are so funny. I move stuff around everyday. We have a big island in the kitchen,it’s a hot mess. I clean it off and then have messes everywhere else. One thing I might suggest it when you get something out put it away where it goes. That has really helped me .

I was a single mom to my son when he was small, so he slept with me. I didn’t wake up before him to set out Santa gifts. He thought Santa didn’t come! It was awful then I told him maybe he went to a different room so we went to the spare bedroom and there it all was. He was so confused on why Santa went to that bedroom instead of putting his gifts under our Christmas tree. We definitely look back and laugh now! 😂

I buy a real tree every year too. I put a bottle of sprite or 7 up in the stand. I've noticed that when I don't do this the tree doesn't drink as much water and dies sooner. If I have left over plant food from fresh flowers I'll put that in there also.

I'm originally from England and back then you'd leave a pillow case at the end of your bed and Father Christmas would fill it in the night. My brother and I would always wake up at some crazy early hour and he would have me drag my full pillowcase into his room and we'd open our presents while my parents slept. It was so magical and I have such fun memories of that so don't feel too sad about it, it'll most likely go down as one of the most fun Christmas' your kids have ever had!

I’m so glad you’re back. The kids opening their gifts in the early morning, oh my. I know y’all were disappointed but it will definitely be something to remember and talk about. We use to get a real tree but my son and I have allergies; so we just opt for a fake tree now. As far as the comment about you watering the tree. lol I’m sure y’all did and we use to water ours all the time and it almost did not matter, if we did. Like you said, the tree is cut so not to much you can do there. Some people just always have to have something to say. Sorry you got those rude comments. You calling her out Susan lol 😝. Buying stuff around Black Friday is cheaper. That’s exactly what we do. That’s what would definitely happen to me with the mop bucket. Dylan coming in and shutting the door, lol! Priceless 😝Y’all’s home is just beautiful and cozy. You and your husband work well together and your kids are just precious. I wish you and your family tons of happiness and success. I watched you decorate your mantle and shelves, and it seems like cleaning it all up went much quicker! You kept moving things around when setting it all up. And bang, a few weeks later, you have to clean it all up! I love keeping it simple for the first week of January too. It looks bare but feels so good to deep clean. Someone I know posted a comment on Instagram that in Ireland, they open up their back door to sweep out the year, and open the front door at the same time, to bring in the new year. I love that!
