So, you got 2 Rogal Dorns that means you need a tank commander leman russ to order them around because orders are good. 20 Cadians is nothing, you need atleast 50-60 infantry, it doesn't have to be all cadians and horses count as infantry. Get Ursula Creed or Lord Solar and attach it with your command squad to a infantry squad to order your army around because orders are good. The rest of you points you get as much cavalry, sentinels, artillery, tanks or orders as you can get. It is also important that your command squad have a vox, otherwise the orders will not reach your troops and that is bad because orders are good.

@@ThePaintingCoach Demolisher is a solid choice, Exterminator is also good and the battle cannon is a classic.

good guard list 3 dorns, then Lord solar with a command squad and a infanty squad (one big group) pick up a Combat patron, so you have 3 extra squads and a sentinel, and the rest have fun with it the rest what you want

You should try grab an Artillery piece like the Medusa or Basilisk its a really good poke tool for Guard and a great control tool to keep any army on their toes.

Good rule of thumb for the guard, screen with troops, damage with tanks and then soften up with artillery

Oh and of course infantry is king at getting those all important objectives

id suggest lots of foot guard so you have the appearance of a tide of men fighting the fight. maybe a combat patrol so the mix of foot, artillery and a mech.

Super happy to see your new army journey Lloyd. Congratulations on the platform growth and thank you for being a mentor to me in the painting space. Side note: though I don't play guard, tanks are really solid in 10th right now. Tank commanders and another piece of artillery of your choosing can go a long way. You already have some Krieg, Lord Solar and Kasirkin so I think you'll be good on infantry. Cant wait wait to see them painted and good luck 🤘

Just started my new-year new-army myself. Last year was my first year of Warhammer and I was torn between Elves and Sisters but the trump card was I found an insane Sisters lot for 700$ CAD for just under 2800 points of sisters so I couldn't turn down that deal. I actually don't super enjoy their new horde style of play so I went ahead and started my Drukhari army with a combat patrol, pair of Venom and Druzhar yesterday.

My new year, new army is Eldar (all varieties) But I'm also working on an Imperial Guard (Krieg and Cadians). Craftworlders: based of the Fusion Suit in Metroid Krieg: based off Clone Trooper Galactic Marines Cadians: Based off the Helldivers.

Can't go wrong with a tank commander with demolisher cannon, as i've seen you say elsewhere in the comments. But i heartily suggest at least one Leman Russ Exterminator, Withering Hail is a powerful ability, especially against things like big bugs with the +1 ap boost to other units shooting at its target. I understand you guys are playing for rule of cool and fun, but theres no reason not to play into your armies meta at least a little. Plus that autocannon is a pretty good take all comers weapon just on its own

As a guard player since 2nd edition, you are gonna want artillery. If you can get your hands on a pair of the Cadian Artillery Kits and make x2 Bombast cannons you would be good to go. They come in the next Battleforce or Cadia Stands.

I have two bombards - already built haha! I guess they need a scout sentinal too to negate the modifiers?

@@ThePaintingCoach yes indeed. The sentinel is a great choice if you are going to run any artillery at all. Leman Russ exterminators are excellent as well. But I know your trying to stick with the xmas box etc.

@@ThePaintingCoach The best I've found is from a video called "Parade at Rykad Minoris and Ambush" where it gives you a 360ish of the troopers. Great scheme, already doing two testers.
