Seth: 1. I am the police officer you thanked at min 7 of this video and it was such a pleasure meeting you. You’re so motivational and inspiring…THANK YOU!! 2. I’m sorry that you didn’t have the race you wanted to have but, that’s the marathon for you. The important thing to remember is that we live to run another day and as long as you have that drive to turn that door knob then anything is possible and you’ll have the race you want. Thank you again for being the inspirational human that you are, keep buttering that bread!!!

And you sir, thank you for being out there doing what you do daily most Importantly, and also being part of Seth’s marathon experience. I have ran 5 NYC marathons out of total of 14 marathons myself, (not at Seth’s level lol) but very low so sub 3hrs, as well as my girlfriend of 4 years (ironically) who’s ran her 1st in 2018 and is soon to be police officer in December, starting her career in the NYPD photo unit before entering the academy this past summer. The NYC marathon is a very special kind of marathon to say the least. For the 5 times I’ve ran it, I’ve learned something new about myself each time. It’s like one epic saga, except starring you and about 40 thousand others and even though everyone’s plot synopsis is to finish the race, their stories and journey are all different. God bless you and God bless you Seth. Sorry your marathon story did not go as planned but you finished and that’s all that matters. There’s always next time with a new focus, journey and with a new story to tell. The lesson of the day is…..you’ll learn a lot about yourself running a marathon. Cheers Seth. 🎉

My suggestion is do another marathon immediately! Do a few! Find your sweet spot. My motto being an endurance athlete and mountain climber has always been pace your self, the body knows what it can do and will speak. But cant avoid unexpected problems, which is why you need to try again soon! Go out for a casual marathon dont try to win the pros lol just let your body do the talking! 👍👊

To reiterate the words of coach Bill Bowerman: the real purpose of running isn't to win a race, it's to test the limits of the human heart your perseverance is an example we can all can learn from in our running and life endeavors.

Seeing you having to walk breaks my heart because we all know how hard you've worked to achieve the goals you detailed in previous vlogs. I admire your determination to finish despite the GI issues. I went through the same thing in July during a half marathon and so badly wanted to walk off the course, but I kept going because that's what you would do. Thank you for continuing to inspire me, even when things don't go according to plan!

Seth, I ran the LA marathon yesterday, my first marathon ever. Got off to a great start until about mile 17 when things got a little rocky. While I was going through my hardest moments out there, your words played in my head and told me, “eyes up, pump arms, quick feet.” Thank you Seth, I was able to finish and I’m determined to run again and have a better race next year, as I know you will also. It still hurts to see Seth in such distress, and just driving through it one step at a time. It is a life lesson .If you have ever experienced a dream crumbling in front of you, you have the ability to recognize when others are going through it and have compassion for them that you otherwise would not know. Wisdom is built on these experiences.

Filmography wise; looks amazing how you gathered the hustle & bustle of New York, the build up to the start, the voice over from the radio, the start, the first few miles & the breakdown. Looks stunning, can’t wait to see the next few installments. BTW, must’ve been so cool to warm up with Bekele, Nagayee (Olympic Silver Medalist in Tokyo), and the likes.

I ran Baltimore Marathon in October of this year (2021) and bonked around mile 16. The goal was sub-3:20 and hit an even split of 1:39:42, right on the money. The wheels fell off pretty hard at around mile 16 and I ended with a 3:45:55. It took every once of mental strength to keep going, and I remember that one of the things that I was telling myself was "sled". You (Seth) wrote that on your hand for one of your races, as a reminder of the workouts where you were pushing the sled around the gym to train your quads/hamstrings to embrace the pain. But you wrote it on your hand to remind yourself to keep pushing that sled. I remember that distinctly and kept telling myself the same thing during my October marathon. To see your race, and see how someone so experienced and elite has days like the one I had, is incredibly encouraging. Especially considering that you kept going. I felt I had no reason to finish the marathon when I bonked. The 3:20 pacer passed me, then the 3:30, then the 3:40 and it just felt worse and worse. But at that point, it wasn't about the PR, it was about mentally persevering. Thank you Seth for encouraging us, for being transparent, for being so raw about what you do. You showed us that the job was not done, even if the goal was out of reach.

Seth, your dedication is inspiring. I can’t explain to you how much you inspire me and I’m sure so many other runners in the world. I run my best HM just yesterday, in a time trial, and a big chunk of it is because of you, your hard working culture, your positive attitude towards life and what you created around this youtube channel. The sub 2:20 is there in you, it will come, and I’m sure that inner fire is burning more than ever within you. You’re a champ.

Maybe I'm in a heightened emotional state, but this vlog had me boo-hooing a bit. I just finished the Pinhoti 100 mile yesterday and my body is broken, bruised and I am humbled. Seeing the shot of you and Jordan running together again so poetically brought the tears man.... I thought back in a flash to all the connections I made during my 100. From people that I just met to old friends I saw out there along the way. As well as my killer crew and my family that supported. You are an inspiration and this was probably the best vlog you've done. The musical cues and cuts, the build up, the NYPD officer saying he watches the vlog(!).... all perfect. Can't wait for part II. You are awesome Seth!

Amazing vlog with wonderful, emotional pictures! Makes me want to tie up my running shoes this very moment and run a marathon. And honest admiration for finishing your race despite your GI issues, and still staying positive. You are such an inspiration! But seeing that you already had two caffeinated gels before the start, gives me the impression that proper solid food might be the better way to go in the future ;-)

One foot forward. Onward and upward. Some days despite all the work you put in, it’s not there. Your family loves you no matter the outcome of ‘just a race’. Bravo Seth. Putting goals out there for everyone to see is what sets you apart from many and what keeps us coming back to your channel. Cheers from Calgary, Canada!

Well done, brother! I was wondering what happened, and I’m still not totally sure, but it doesn’t matter. I so appreciate your openness and transparency and willingness to show the big highs and perhaps the frustrating lows. Much love to you today and always.

Adding in the clips from the training block, between the footage of you walking... Just 💔 From beginning to end, this is an absolute work of art, Seth, truly. To put so much into it, after the day you had... just 😶 The footage of NYC, the audio - including none, at times - the composition... your eye and storytelling are 2nd to none, plain and simple 🤩🙏 THANK YOU so much for sharing your experiences with us, we are truly honored to be a part of your journey!

Seth, the content and story of your vlog is spot on and am sure it will definitely inspire all the runners out there to keep doing what they do best and that is turn that door knob. You rock Seth, all the hard work and sacrifice you made for this race still puts you in a very good position even during this difficult time. Also, I am so happy to see the support you are receiving from everyone including me from all over the world and this shows how your DGR family loves you and believes in you. All the best for the upcoming Marathons in 2022. Onward and upward. Rest well and recuperate you deserve it much more than anyone.

Top notch video! This one really hurt to see unfold, but it speaks volume about who you are Seth that even in a difficult time, you pulled back the curtain and let us experience the heartbreak and struggle with you. That’s a true champion right there. Yes it will sting, but you’ll learn from this and come back that much stronger! Onward and upward!!!

Running a marathon to best of your own ability is still one of the toughest challenges / experiences out there. Training for months for that one day to be perfect and some days it just doesn't turn out how you expect it. The example you set for all levels and ages of runners is outstanding. Brave heart Seth. Recover, review regroup and then go again in 2022. You've got this.
