On February 24, 2017, The University of Scranton Schemel Forum hosted Annie Cohen-Solal, Ph.D., Cultural Historian, Writer and Professor of American Studies at the Université de Caen for a talk titled New York Cultural Capital 1945-1965. Cohen-Solal takes us on a historical journey outlining how New York City became the global art mecca it is today. She demonstrates how displaced artists from Europe - immigrants whose geographic displacement proved to be one of the greatest assets to the American art world, provided the impetus for the growth of an art society in the U.S.
