Ай бұрынNew York Giants news: Giants have signed Jacob Saylors of the UFL St. Louis Battle Hawks. Jacob Saylors, who led all running backs in the UFL in receiving yards, rushing and touchdown catches, is signing with the Giants. Saylors ran for 3,851 yards and 33 touchdowns in 51 games over five collegiate seasons. He was an UDFA in 2023, spent time with the Falcons and Bengals. The 24 year old RB tried out for the Giants last week. The Giants RB Depth chart is now full and there is going to be a competition to see who will be the RB2 behind Devin Singletary. @lbrown7955 for many many years, we haven't had a good o line. I feel like people expect mahomes type of play when you don't have a good o line and we as fans always get on the qb. We definitely need more strength at the o line.

I watched him all season long for STL, pretty decent, not a NFL starter or anything. Possibly a #3 rb for us, he runs hard and decides on a lane quickly. But STL also had a 39 year old Wayne Gallman, who had nearly as many TDS on far less touches, remember him? The Battle Hawks had a dominant O line, every RB on that team did well because of this. Sailor was slightly better than the rest on the team. But the best RB in the UFL never played a snap in2024, he was injured in preseason on the DC team. If you watched the XFL in 23 you know who that is. Honestly if they wanted a UFL RB, they should have looked at D Victor, a literal ball of muscle that’s a great goal line back. That guy actually does have bigger Quads than Saquon. Still waiting for Butler to go to NY though.

Rb2 is wide open . Saylors also has kick return experience while in college that probably will give him an edge especially with the new return rules its basically a running play

this RB is gonna be a wild look this year. I think the easiest way for any of these guys to make it though will be Special Teams Assuming Eric Gray gets first crack at RB2 and doesn't do anything to cost him (ie: show no development in pass protection), then the final 2 slots are up for grabs I like Miller and Tracy though to be contributors in the kick return game, and that could be their edge to make the roster.

Gray was also indecisive whether to hit line or kick outside. I think he might be better all round this year but he was outplayed by Corbin last year and Corbin got cut bc Gray was 5th rnd pick. 5th rnd picks don't have that luxury yr2.

@@davissinclair4945 There is no excuse for poor pass protection. Corbin is only a 2nd yr, Saylor only a 2nd yr, and Miller only a 1 yr. 2 of Gray, Miller, Corbin and Saylor will be cut. Singletary and Tracy are locks.

RB2 will get 30% of snaps so we need someone who can pass protect, run between tackles, and pass receiving. Corbin needs to improve receiving, Gray terrible pass protector and not decisive, Tracy is new to being RB can he pass protect?, can Saylor pass protect and run in nfl? Miller is screen, pitch, gadget guy not rb2. Lots of ? But who will improve enough to be RB2? Nobody on team even shown the skillset yet, let alone excelled. Tracy probably has best shot.

I’m not sure if Brightwell or Gray will stay on the team especially Brightwell us picking up another running back means we don’t quite trust the running back room yet and think that there’s more improvement

Brightwell was injured so he was cut about a week ago. Ordinarily this would be insignificant, but with Singletary only playing 60% snaps tops. RB2 is important especially with nobody that has proven they can pass protect, run up middle, and run routes. Ordinarily Tracy would be front runner but with just 1 year as RB who knows.

Let it play out and stay patient. #1. Devin Singletary is a solid, productive, reliable, veteran running back. He has been a quiet, consistent superstar who doesn't get the praise he deserves. #2. Eric Gray is a second year RB who came out of college with high praise as a tough inside runner with good hands. He is more quick than fast. #3. Tyrone Tracy is a converted receiver who has shined in his transition to running back. He's got an immediate advantage with his receiving skills. #4. Dante Miller put up 28 reps at 225 lbs and ran a sub 4.30 forty on his pro day. They would have been the top combine numbers in the 2024 RB draft class. #5. Jashaun Corbin has been the best RB in the training camps every year but ends up on the practice squad. We will be cooking at running back in 2024. No worries from me.
