[New York] NYPD Police Cars With Lights & Siren! (Collection)

Captured here are a large variety of patrols and response vehicles of the New York City Police Department, better known as the NYPD! These clips were filmed throughout several different neighborhoods of Manhattan, and show the police on emergency responses, traffic duty, or just patrolling the streets of the busy city (which is often done with the emergency lights activated).

When I was in NYC a few years ago, I noticed that the police were everywhere. The cars as well as their officers on foot patrol. Even managed to take a photo with one of the officers on patrol over at Times Square who was really nice when I asked. 7:21 The white with blue details of the NYPD is so iconic. Will take a while to get used to the new livery.

They’re cool, especially with the Rumbler, but it’s challenging to get NYPD on camera with good siren-use. They often just sound the siren a couple times on manual to get ahead in traffic and then it’s off again lol

As far as I know it is an unmarked NYPD unit. I have seen similar vehicles used by their counter terrorism units.

I really wonder whats the point of the message board seen on NYPD cars usually on the light bar. No one is reading the message even if someone does it usually just says "N Y P D"

I don’t think it’s very useful. They could save a lot of money by getting rid of those. Even the light-bar they use isn’t very effective in my opinion. Sure, it looks pretty cool, but it does not stand out enough in traffic, especially during the day.

Thank you!! Yea me neither, I think the old one was simple, but effective. The new one looks like a special event livery for a parade or something, but I can’t warm up to it as the new standard… If they really want to update their look I would have suggested a revamp of the iconic light-blue design from the 80s and 90s!

Listen again, you can hear the Rumbler several times in this video. NYPD almost always have it on.
