There is a video of some Bavarian lad. Much better sound quality and the playing is also wonderful. Will try to find it.

Yes Michael Buchanan, my favorite recording. It’s blown up since this comment haha probably the most famous. Came across it as the top recording when looking up this solo.

recording sound quality is not the best. It would have sounded so much better live.

Don't think I've ever heard Alessi play this sharp before. Every F and every Bb where just too high. Not his usual standard of performance for sure.
@ryanjimerson85026 жыл бұрын
I have heard from a few friends and teachers of mine who have accompanied him in pieces like this and they all say he plays very sharp, their entire group had tune drastically from what they were used to.

dnarbredlih can’t we be fair and account for possible acoustic tendencies, horn changes, mouthpiece changes or other factors

Alessi and Lindberg play in a similar contemporary style that emphasizes a big sound with lots of volume, mostly loud. He plays like a New Yorker. A sound like his would never be tolerated in the Vienna Philharmonic or Chicago Symphony where a darker more centered tone is preferred.

Agreed! As he grows older, his playing deteroriates, of course, so it can’t be expected for him to play as well as a younger player like Toby Oft or Michael Buchanan or Peter Moore or whatnot.
