I've heard many things about Schwartz's Deli in Montreal. They're one of the oldest delis in Canada opened by Jewish immigrants and are famous for their smoked meat sandwich.

the only praise and service i give is towards my mom& pops cooking who basically fed me my whole life and also made the best smoked meat and deli sandwiches. my local deli i used to go to had rumours of them spittin' in the sandwiches of individuals or groups they didnt personally like so since then i dont tend to go to any business i dont know or doesnt have a consent of approval from me friends or family!😊

So glad you went to Schwartz's Deli! It is basically the must-eat restaurant when you go to Montreal. The last time I was there was April 2022, and the huge mouthwatering sandwich never failed to disappoint me! There are other popular delis in Montreal you could've tried like Dunn's, Snowdon or Lester's but Schwartz's is amazing and is better than the other restaurants I have mentioned. The recipe is a classic and has been original since the deli opened!

AWESOME, AK!!! You finally got to try the famous Schwartz smoked meat sandwich! 😋😋😋 Actually you have three choices in smoked meat there -- lean, medium and fat. I never go lean as it's too dry for me. I go with medium mostly but if I want to indulge then fat- it is so tasty esp. if you like fattier pieces of meats. A smoked meat sandwich along with a Cott's black cherry soda to wash it down is heaven! Katz is up there for me, they're delicious too! I try to go there whenever I'm in NYC. Happy Eating, AK!

I went to Schwartz's the last time I was in Montreal and all I can say is yum! I hate Montreal smoked meat, rye bread and mustard, but put them together and... *chef's kiss* It's sooooo good!

I've eaten here countless times. No trip to Montreal is complete without these amazing sandwiches. So delicious. Best enjoyed with a cherry cola. I give Lester's deli a close 2nd.

Ken, a Schwartz's Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches is spectacularly delicious. I actually order the meat sometimes and have it flown to Vancouver!! Lol! It's so amazing! I have had fabulous smoked meat sandwiches or pastrami in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Manhattan, Los Angeles - all amazing Jewish Delis - oh and Zabar's in Manhattan and Russ and Daughter's (their's is amazing too!!) but Schwartz's is #1 in my opinion!! I have never had a better Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich!! I always have extra mustard and extra kosher dills!! I am thrilled that you loved your sandwich so much!! Cheers!! 🙂

For sandwiches to eat, you can try Wilensky, BOSSA Prêt à manger, Jack le Coq, Clarke Café, Mono. For poutine you can try La banquise, Poutineville, Greenspot Restaurant. For korean food, you can try Cocodak, Comon, Opiano, Mon ami. For pizza you can try Pizza Il Focolaio, Adamo Pizza, Pizzeria Magpie, pizza toni. They are crazy now selling a smoke meat sandwich for $17.95 +taxes comes close to $20.00cad before the cost of a drink or fries ! A Special at Wilensky's for under $5.00cad is still a bargain.
