TBH, I’d still say the original is better for cosplay. Playing with sleeved cards isn’t anime accurate, and most cosplayers don’t give a shit about the price of their cards because they’re not actually playing with them. So, IMO, this thing feels like it has no real target audience.

@@austinhall6002 Exactly. Konami prints the shit out of a lot of cards, so you can easily make a reasonable deck out of very cheap cards. That being said, playing with such a deck unsleeved will damage the cards to the point they become marked, which is a no-no for anything except the most casual of duels. IMO, if you’re in the market for a duel disk to play with, the Duel Disk Yusei 2010 is the best bang for your buck in terms of features. It comes with most of the essentials for modern play for a fraction of the price of the Proplica Duel Disk. It’s not cheap by any means, but once you start going cheaper you have to make concessions for what essential gameplay features you’re going to give up. And if you don’t want to do that, then you’re gonna have to make your own.

I can forgive omitting the life counter. Usually the life counters on Duel Disks are more hassle than it’s worth. But not supporting Defense Mode when that is a core aspect to even the most casual of duelists is just completely ludicrous.

Problem is, Konami has made significant missteps with the player base these past few years, frankly, i think they are running out of time because of it.

@@LOZA-DM honestly I think AR is a lot more realistic, but the amount of money that would have to go in to making models, and recognising every card, not to mention voice-commands, I can’t see it happening unless it’s something akin to DSoD or VRAINS with its digital card systems

The rush duel disk kind did it where they combined the graveyard and deck area by using the space under the deck box as that and it fits sleeved cards great but only some what since it’s using a spring

The Duel Disk Yusei 2010 and the Proplica Duel Disk both have slots for banished cards and your Extra Deck. No accommodation for Links, but the Yusei 2010 disk does have a weird slot underneath the Field Spell Zone that can fit a card. That’s probably the closest we have to a Duel Disk that can support Links.

Any Duel Disk should only have one slide out tray each for the Extra Monster Zone, though I'd rather we all just change Link Monsters to be usable in Defense Mode. And just put the Extra Deck and Banished Zone under the Deck Zone :)

@@tivednagol9127 Well, there’s a good reason Link Monsters can’t be forced into Defense Position: Turning them sideways changes where their arrows point, which alters many of their effects. Frankly, even if they did make a Duel Disk with an EMZ, I still don’t think it would be terribly fun to play with. Prior to Links, there were only a few cards that cared about zone placement which no one played, so standing apart from your opponent was generally fine. But thanks to Links, you’d have to keep walking up to your opponent and aligning your blade with theirs to know where your arrows are pointing, which is relevant for a number of Link monsters. And in the case of Extra Link boards, you need to give your opponent a monster and try not to forget about it because you still control it. All in all, Link formats are just meant to be played on a table.

I would hope the over 200 dollars MSRP premium version is better than this.

Hell, I think it's easier just to 3D Print Jack Atlas's 5D's duel disk because of its simple shape (which would make anime accurate backrow slots easier like the GX Duel Disks).
