That cashier scanning Gatorade bottles was basically me when I worked at Wal-Mart and got called to the front because they needed more cashiers (not actually me, but I was about that fast, with varied items too, not just Gatorade bottles)! Had a woman come through with 2 carts (I think you call them buggies or trollies) of groceries, not big ticket items, but nearly $300 of food and toiletries. I got her through my checkstand in less than 5 minutes, including the time spent processing her payment. IIRC, there were over 160 separate items on that ticket. BTW, I officially worked in sporting goods. On a separate note: We have both Gatorade and Powerade (among several other smaller brands) here in the States, they're competitors. Powerade is owned by Coca-Cola and Gatorade is owned by Pepsi.

same, some customers would tell others to go to my lane, so while I was trying to be fast to get people out, they kept sending people my way cuz they were like "he's the fast lane!" XD in another retail store I was put on the fast lane because of my speed. Sadly it doesn't help when not all items have barcodes so that messes up the speed =/

@@drakke125Channel The absolute worst was "Ken in Sporting goods to the front registers, Ken to the front" followed barely a minute later with "Ken to the Sporting Goods desk, customer at sporting goods." That cashier with the scanner... I remember back before those scanners when the product or stock number had to be entered manually, along with the price. I knew some cashiers who were WAY faster than any scanner now. Same with.... yeah, I'm showing my age here big time.... bag boys. Remember them? The people, usually guys, who would grab the groceries as fast as the cashier could send them down the belt and have them bagged (paper bags back then) and in your cart before you could say, "thank you". The stockers (I was one in a small souvenir shop for a few years, besides being cashier, bagger and cleaning person), with the pricing guns were pretty freaking fast too. Actually, that was the most enjoyable part of the job for me... I can still hear the sound of that thing pumping out those price stickers... ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk!

I worked piecework in a glove factory in my early 20s. My title was 'single palm closer. Basically, I sewed the glove shut. We made all sorts of different work gloves and you had to do a certain amount each day, depending on the type of glove you were working on. It was not enjoyable. They painted the walls a depressing sludge green and even painted the windows to keep you from being distracted. My mom, aunts and sister had worked there as well (all at different time periods). I think it finally went out of business after the management ran it into the ground. Factory work isn't fun.

Bird's nest soup is apparently popular in Asian cultures. The soup is made from edible bird nests which are called the “Caviar of the East”. Bird's Nest Soup is extremely rare and valuable. The main ingredient is the nest of the swiftlet bird which is usually found in Southeast Asia. Edible bird's nests are among the most expensive animal products consumed by humans. Rather from being made from twigs and bits of moss, they're made from the hardened saliva from swiftlet nests and dissolved in a broth. If that still doesn't sound too appetising, don't worry, today they're harvested entirely for human consumption and super-high in minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium. Since the birds use their saliva to make the nests, the delicacy has a salty and slight briny taste to it. Bird's nests are often boiled in water to create a gelatinous mix to add to soup, rice and a variety of dishes, including desserts to give them a savory taste.
@RossWrock
@RossWrock Жыл бұрын
NZ Fam...birds nest is an Asian delicacy found mainly in China, which is super expensive because it's rare, hand-picked, and hand-cleaned. It's the actually birds nest of a cave-dwelling swallow, and believe it or not, made from the swallow's saliva. Local workers have to go spelunking into narrow and remote caves, use bamboo ladders to reach the high nests along the cave walls, and try not to die in the dark while harvesting them. It's one of the most expensive animal food products, going for around $3,000 US a pound (or $6,500 US per kilo). It's most often served in soups, but can be found in desserts, drinks, and Chinese traditional medicine as well. I had some once while in Hong Kong just to say I tried it, but found it pretty tasteless. Maybe because I had a low-quality nest...I couldn't afford the good stuff.

This reminds me of a man I saw at a food court in a mall in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked at a stand that sold salads (and the customer could choose which ingredients to include). That guy was a wizard with a pair of salad tongs in his hand -- he could assemble all the ingredients for a salad and toss them together in like 10 seconds! There was a long line the day I bought a salad there, but I didn't mind because it was a pleasure to watch him at work.

kia ora from washington state.. bird nest soup is an expensive dish in Asian stores and restaurants. costing anywere to costs anywhere from $2,500 to $10,000 per kilogram.The soup isn't made from any old nest. The soup calls for the nest of a bird called the swiftlet or cave swift. These birds produce special nests found not in trees but in caves throughout southern Asia, the south Pacific islands, and northeastern Australia. its made from the spit of the bird (sounds good eh not my cup of tea). it is very cool watching them collect the nests though. For the gatoraid and poweraid are very close just one is a little less sweet i think and the other has more vitamins for dehydration both are good... should check out American lumber jack competitions if you have not yet.

4:50 I kid you not that was how fast I rang items at the cashier lane when I was a cashier. 6:29 this one is super easy, you just put the stack down and because the stack is on top of a moving belt, you just need to have one hand holding against the bottom of the stack so the bottom of the stack moves while you 'push' (hold) the stack in its position and when the bottom box moves away the box on top of it falls down where your hand is holding the stack in place.

Okay, it's really weird but bird's nest soup is a delicacy. It's made from the nests of these birds that live high up in the caves, the nests themselves are formed from the solidified saliva of the birds. Supposedly it has either health benefits or something else, but gram for gram the nests themselves are more valuable than silver. The person in the video was simply cleaning all the bits out of the actual usable nest
