Having lived in New Zealand's North Island since 1965 and having travelled extensively throughout both Islands on various great holiday's, I enjoyed this film immensely . It brought back many memories of wonderful trips with my Family and adventures of exploring most of both Islands by car and do all the touristy things. Over the years I've managed to see more of New Zealand than I ever did of England, an error which I rectified about 10 years ago during one of our OE's back to what was once home. We've never regretted our decision to come to this wonderful country and now in our old age, we are content to sit back and enjoy it still.

I have lived here with my kiwi wife since 1998 & am now in the same position, just west of Christchurch. On returning to England for holidays, I deplore how it has changed for the bad. I hope NZ never suffers the same way

For those who want to immerse in the scenic beauty and tranquil charm, they can stick onto the west coast of the South Island. You might never come across such diverse and spectacular landscape anywhere else in the world. There are lush green country side and barren terrains, rain forests, excellent beaches and lakes, glaciers, ghost towns, mining towns and the popular adventure town in Queenstown. Make sure you go to Milford Sound and relax yourself. For those looking out for a hiking practice, there is the Milford Sound trek which is really awesome.

Kia Ora.Thank you for the video. Some of these places are no longer to be seen. After the earthquake the seafloor changed and some places are not accessible anymore in Kaikoura. I love New Zealand. Kiwis are very friendly and the scenery is breathtaking.

This was a trip down memory lane for me. We moved from Christchurch to South Australia in 1995. We lived in Oamaru for 6 years I think when I was little. I was born in Ashburton. I remember family holiday in Akaroa when we went out on a boat and I caught 2 fish on one line. I was horribly motion sick though. Kaikoura was the first time I heard my Dad swear when he slipped on some rocks going down to see the seals. We went on holidays to the West coast, met some hippies :) Yuk I remember eating whitebait fritters...when I didn't realize what they were lol. The lakes of N.Z, are amazing aye. Would love to go back there one day and take my children who are all grown up now, show them our roots :) Revisiting all these beautiful places with new eyes having clocked up more life experience would be so spectacular :)

I remember one day when a bunch of Maoris came to our hostel and brought like kilos of seafood they caught just hours before that and invited us to joing their dinner. One of countless great memories of my travels!!!! This country is just a pearl!!

No way to say how gorgeous the Southern Alps are from Kaikoura. And so much that you can see on a day boat trip. Unthinkable that oil drilling could happen here. Btw, the train from Picton to Christchurch goes through Kaikoura, and if that is the only time you have, then take the ferry from Wellington then the train down to Christchurch- and you’ll see the most in the shortest time. Don’t fly. West Coast: there is a train through the Southern Alps to the West Coast. This takes you past stunning lakes and through the Southern Alps. Expect rain and, we’ll, unique lifestyle, on the West Coast. Plus, remember that we invented the Pavlova!

New Zealand is a beautiful country. I've visited both islands and they're equally beautiful. Christchurch I liked very much as well as Wellington. The nature is breathtaking and the people are equally the same, very friendly. Long to come back one day.

John Lambert There is only one still in this video - the one about the cheese factory - which was taken using an HTC One M7 phone. All the rest was Canon. I'm tempted to go back as well as there's so many other spots I'd like to visit. Enjoy!

John Lambert Don't forget to go to Fox Glacier, and do the Helicopter trip up onto the Fox Glacier itself and then on to Franz Josef. You stop on top of the glacier, with magnificent views. I'd go back to the South Island any time.

NZ is amazing..i agree, 1 week is no where enough to do South island. Even 2 weeks would fall short. Make a winter trip as well ..ski remarkables, coronet peak, mount hutt, heli ski mount cook . Canoe in Able tasman n p. Dine NZ cuisine in the fancier Christchurch eatery's , whale watching in kaikura..dine on seafood while u r here. Drive the scenic Arthurs pass, do the awsome foursome trip in Queenstown incl the helicooter dive into the remarkables mountains , Milford sound fjord cruise, Te Anau caves boat trip, take that pic from Good shepherds church at lake tekapo, lunch at Haast pass, guided glacier walk on Fox Glacier..be careful of tumbling boulders, shop dine in Greymouth, pancake rocks, spend a day with awsome locals in quaint Reefton..skinny dip in the natural hot pool , Hamner springs as well..list is endless..buy fairydown, Kathmandhu n other great NZ outdoor gear, u wont be disapointed. Carry a full wallet as NZ is fairly cheap.

Colin Richards Oh you will miss out the North Island? So you would travel all that way and not visit the volcanic plateau? How about experiencing fly fishing for wild Steelhead trout on the mighty Tongariro? Yep, you are right, much too adventuresome! Watch the video at home.

@@pierevojzola9737 My comments are baesd on an equal time spent touring both Islands in a camper van in 1998. I found the SI a constant "wow", but only enjoyed the North of the NI. I'm not being rude, just honest. As for the desert road, that's shockingly boring.

Unfortunately the Ohau waterfall was severely damaged during the 2016/17 earthquakes. You can no longer get to it. In some areas the sea floor lifted up over 6 feet. The coast line has changed a lot since then.

Big oil to build a deep sea oil rig!!! Shame NZ government if this goes ahead! I understand if this is a economic decision but at what cost! Don't let foreign influence blind your sensibilities keep Aotearoa beautiful! Trying to get rich through oil causes war. Keep to primary produce the world will always want to be feed and clothed and NZ is the purist environment if we keep it that way!. That is my opinion anyway .. just a proud Kiwi

My family arrived in Akaroa in 1839. Beautiful place. But we (and our shipmates) were there before the French. We were the original settlers, not the French. They didn’t get there until August 1840.
