I am not sure why non-Saudi are trying to claim they know about us, about our culture, religion, life, etc? I am a Saudi women. I am perfectly happy and proud to be Saudi and will never ever chose another nationality. The gov, is doing a lot for the people. SA has no single homeless person on the street. We take healthcare and education seriously. This is why both are 100% free for all Saudi. There are hundreds of programs that Saudi ppl can benefit from to help them own their homes, increase their income, and support a happy and healthy life. We have no taxes on water/elec, no taxes on income. The country itself is mind blowing with loads of tourists places and modern architecture. Women are independent and SA is one of the fewest countries with equal income for men/women. I lived in the UK for the last 8 years because I was a student (with all of my tuitions fees/ husband tuition fees/ visas expenses/ monthly salaries/ healthcare expenses, all fully taken care of by my government) and I would honestly say the quality of life is far superior in SA than here in the UK. Buttom line is, we are happy people with a gov. that is looking after its ppl. And with the vision of 2030 Saudi Arabia will soon become one of the most powerful countries in the world. I guess this is the reason why we have so many haters. 😅 and people please 🎉before saying silly things like sport washing, perhaps find a cure for ur media brain wash. Everything u know about SA has come from the western media that brained wash u for years. Don’t be please, come to the country, meet the ppl and see for ur self. The truth will send u free.

The protesters are absolutely right in what they say, but i think it's too late to save the soul of the game at the top level. I'm a Man Utd fan and we're facing either a takeover from an oppressive government, a takeover from the owner of the biggest polluter in this country or we have to stay on with the Glazer family. There is no happy ending there. To the people saying politics has no place in football, it's always been a part of football, just not to the level it is today. I never expected 35 years ago to have to be an expert in geopolitics, financial planning and the laws regarding abuse and consent when I first started supporting United, but here we are. As for some of the Newcastle fans in this video, it's embarrassing. Not many of them made any actual points beyond "look at the UK government". Yes our government has been disgraceful for years, decades or centuries even, and should always be held to account for the problems they have created. But they're not going round buying sports teams, leagues or players in order to clean their reputation in the eyes of the world and the supporters who are arguing against the protesters are proving their point. The aim of buying a club with the passionate support Newcastle have, who dealt with a terrible owner for years, is to immediately get a group of mouth pieces on board that will defend them because they got rid of Ashley. Same thing will happen with my club if Qatar get rid of the Glazers

Know what, controversial but I respect the man for standing up for humanity over football because it very much so is an obvious issue with our owners because this stuff is still happening fairly recently. These youngins are just taking the piss out of him because they know it’ll never affect them and they’re in a safe country. The guy is right, the Saudi government are corrupt, killing people and bending rules to allow that. But, a lot of people will say “keep politics out of football” when it’s in fact a very political thing these days and it’s past the point of no return and it kind of has to be addressed eventually. Edit: and it’s a bit shite because this old guy has lots of valid points. But our fans only counter points are “keep politics out of football” “this is football not politics” “UK government is just as bad” and the youngins are literally just using internet learned comebacks such as “when. When did I ask?” And “shhhhh” with his finger on his lips and it makes us look absolutely fucking stupid to be honest, the fact nobody has a true response to what he’s going on about.

Newcastle fans here are a joke. I’m sure there’s a good amount of them that oppose SA owning them. The way I see it, they are in a difficult position. They only want success for their team, but football is much bigger than a game. It’s about social issues. If my team Liverpool were owned by SA I wouldn’t be arsed supporting them. Newcastle are different to Liverpool as they haven’t had success so can’t blame them for having blinkered views, especially the younger kids.

It is not sport washing! It is people who are barking up the wrong tree because the toon is an easy target. These people do not have the fortitude to take it up with the right people, and happily ignore the government because the government is untouchable or does not give a fack about some small time protestor. The toon is not your punching bag or your attention seeking platform. These people were no where to be seen when Cahsley was holding people hostage on 0 hours contract! Tony Blair is still at large and thousands of Iraqis are beneath the ground, their lives cut short. We don't see that block hounding those responsible. I don’t agree with the group completely for a start PIF have their fingers in absolutely everything and many have unknowingly benefited from their investments in their everyday life, including myself (who they’ve invested money heavily in my employer), so to have an issue over a sporting group of athletes that just kick a ball about over the billions that are going into other organisations in this country, seem more like selective outrage But many of these people arguing back are making really weak and unintelligible responses back to the old guy and as a result making the counter argument look pretty stupid and ill-informed. Not a fan of the kids whipping out phones to film and mock an old man either. People label the ownership of the club as Sportswashing and call it what you want it probably is an aspect that they do want to improve their image and own a potentially prestigious brand but the other factors in this is that if PIF were to back out of investments in Newcastle United, all it means is they would probably go all in on the Saudi Pro League, which people label also as Sportswashing. The thing that perhaps we need to see on a wider lens is that maybe Saudi Arabia wanting to project themselves differently and to integrate with prestigious European competitions and clubs is the first step on a path that could lead them to improve their human rights. Surely it’s better that their investments are out in the open and well publicised to be under scrutiny rather than the hidden investments in almost every business we interact with in our daily lives completely oblivious that they are supported by Saudi money

As a Liverpudlian that is a specious argument, I am completely against any dealings with the Saudis, as I am with other non democratic Arab regimes, however selling players is simply not LFC's choice to make, FIFA, the UK government and FA are the arbitrators of who they allow to enter the UK and buy clubs and give the Saudi league (which should be boycotted were I am concerned) the licenses to use football as a sports washing con trick.
