One of the most wonderful things about the first win is that fans from several other groups, particularly Loona, made a point of voting for Dreamcatcher on Show Champion to push them over the top to make sure they got their first win with Maison. REASON was released for their sixth anniversary - and on the first January Friday the 13th since their debut. (The next one is in January 2034).

On that day I stayed up till 3AM my time to watch show champion. That day EVERY Insomnia was confident that Dreamcatcher will finally get their win.. and they did. The interesting fact is that this song was released after they all renewed their contracts with the agency, if it was released before the renewed contract, InSonmia might have thought this was a farewell song before disbanding and we might have cried our hearts out.

I was watching Show Champion live that time. It was a complete surprise. We were all quite confident about the Show, and they won that as well, but this one? Totally out of left field. I projectile-cried. And I am a hardened metalhead. But these girls are so hard working and they always had to struggle, they truly deserved this. And the entire time they were never bitter about not winning, they were always very supportive and gracious to the people who did win and, in spite of not winning for so long, they were very thankful for the efforts InSomnia put in trying to get them a win. For a while they made it obvious that getting their first win was a big goal for them but towards the end they actually stopped mentioning it because they felt that they were putting too much pressure on InSomnia. Then, shortly thereafter, history happened.

The staffs said they were going to perform again on Show Champion, so they were just watching the screen waiting to be called to perform, and then POW 1st win. I did not see their first win, but I heard about it and watched all this when it happened, and honestly I still cry every time. They worked SO hard and went SO long as the underdogs and not being noticed or popular in Korea. I am so proud of them for everything they have done and how hard they worked. A very kind Insomnia made us banners that said You Are The REASON on them and they were handing them out to everyone that came in to hold up during Reason, it was amazing!! :D

I remember watching the win in potato quality on my phone on my lunch break at work. It was so amazing to finally see our girls with a trophy. A wonderful moment for dreamies and somnia. Maison isn't even my favourite title song, far from to be honest, but it'll always have a place in my heart for giving them their first win.

As someone who got introduced into Kpop through Twice, starting to venture into other artists music was exciting. I became an Insomnia shortly after Scream came out and it truly has changed my world for music. I’d grown up being a rock / metal person with a small hint of pop music mixed in, Dreamcatcher for me combined everything I liked and more in music. So much so that they became my favorite musical act. I was able to watch the episode of Show Champion live and was floored once they announced DC as the winners, I probably cried for about thirty minutes after hearing them perform and take the award. It showed that being different and sticking to yourself truly can make it in an industry where you’re considered an outsider or black sheep. No matter the hardship DC pushed through doing their best and finally succeeded. Now after 4 wins and multiple awards we as Insomnia can say they’ve done it. After Maison released I actually got to see DC live in LA as part of their Apocalypse Save Us World Tour, it was a blast seeing and hearing them live, they truly are a once in a lifetime artist. It will definitely go down as one of my favorite life experiences. Reason was icing on the cake, it’s such an amazing song. Was my favorite song of 2023 and still one of my all time favorites in their discography. They did another world tour after which I had to attend after the first experience, getting to listen to Reason live is truly a spectacle unlike anything, you can feel the emotions in the vocals and the true love for Insomnia. At the time I was like 3 1/2 months into listening to K-Pop and being an InSomnia and I soaked up everything there was to know about them before that so even for me it was super emotional and I still get teary eyed watching this.

I love how you put all three together. Like the members stated in the live, there was always a worry that Dreamcatcher would never get their first win. By coming so close with Deja Vu, we knew it was possible. By DREAMCATCHER getting a historic first win, KPop changed forever. To have InSomnias work so hard and give DREAMCATCHER their first win was euphoria. All that hardwork paid off in the end. There wouldn’t be InSomnias without DREAMCATCHER but also there wouldn’t be DREAMCATCHER without InSomnias. Then they released Reason. So many good ideas in Reason, the song actually their first song having 3 rappers, the first time JiU given strong high note belter (usually sweet/smooth), different flow of Dami's rap in one song, if I remember correctly the song also SuA's first high note head voice. First time having rap as prechorus too (usually starting slow and almost always involving JiU). The fact that all 7 members having a part up until first chorus also amazing, usually 1, 2, or even 3 members should wait until second verse or even last outro chorus for Handong in 괜찮아 (translated to "I'm okay" but the English title is "Trust Me"). The structure with kinda ballad in first verse and having Handong starting the line actually a cheat code. Also.. Reason was the first time their song having lead guitar being up in front, usually the rhythm being in front so many good things fr in Reason. Crunchy snare on drum, bass heavy in first verse, no questions on guitars, vocals arrangements, new parts (or role) for members.. the only complain was just.. the song wasn't being promoted to music show, which is understandable, but having that many masterpieces it'd be greater in music shows

I think I mentioned before that im not really a fan of rock so at first i wasnt sure what to think of the grp, it intrigued me bc it was so diff from the rest of kpop i knew but it was a sound i wasnt into. By winning their first win, the former Minx members could start to let go of that part of their past. As you might or might not have realized, some members of Minx were traumatized by that entire experience, especially Siyeon (listen to "Paradise" to get a glimpse how bad she'd felt during the time of Minx) and Dami. For a long time within the fandom, mentioning or asking DC about Minx had been a taboo. It was after their first win, they started showing that they had made peace about the past and even had performed Love Shake ot7 style together. They are such good role models. Their success is hard earned and nothing they have achieved was ever handed to them easily. Yet many of their songs are about encouraging the listeners to rise above daily challenges and cherishing each other.

Oh Im so glad I found your channel. I binged your series here with DC over the last two evenings, one of my all time favorite things to do when I need a cheer up is to find other people discovering Dreamcatcher for the first time and joining the ranks of InSomnia! Seeing how long it takes for you to become a fan, figuring out who your biases are and watching you discover our girls is just a joyful trip every time. I've yet to really find anybody who at *least* isn't impressed with their skill even if the music isn't to their tastes. A lot of people become listeners and even more become full blown InSomnia like you guys have. As has been said, you've been sucked into the dream now, and prepare yourselves, cause they are content queens and feed us fans so, so well. There's still so *much* for you guys to find, though! Dreamcatcher is the only group, both guys and gals, to have at least two releases a year since debut. They interact through lives and tiktok and insta, through special clips and behind the scenes. Their main youtube page has a playlist of all of the special clips, try to watch them from oldest to newest! They were really so very good right out of the gate, but you can still see growth and talent and skill through the years. Their special clips also frequently feature self made 'videos' for some of their b-sides, so you get a great chance to see them goof off as they are are naturally made to be, and can get a wonderful sense of them as people through those, too. Dreamcatcher Company (frequently shortened to DCC if you've not caught on to that in comments yet) is the most supportive company I can think of for them, letting them just....be them! What other company is going to let each individual member of a seven member group go through all of the writing and production steps to record individual solos in whatever style the members want, AND release said songs on their album? Sure, other companies will let their group artists do solos and subunit groups, but those things are often kept to themselves, not released as part of the main group releases. That still blows my mind. You'll also find in those special clips that Dreamcatcher doesn't do the sub-unit thing, there's no 'official' one whatsoever, they just do things as they want to with who they had an idea to do a thing with. Sua wants to do some choreo with Jiu and Yoohyeon? Okay! How about one with Dami? Okay too! Handong wants to translate things to Chinese and do a special video? Yep! (Who supports their international members like that? For real if you know another one let me know.) Solo, self written songs. Covers of other groups, covers of others solo. All so fun and so good! The emotions.. When this was released ,lots of Somnias including me, cried twice... Once because of the song, and then realizing , we're in the music video.. Firstly, I'm slightly surprised you didn't do the first 2 anniversary songs before Reason. Second, I am relatively new to Dreamcatcher like you. I got into them around almost a year ago. BON VOYAGE was just about to drop, and I caught music discussion content creator MicTheSnare's video on his own introduction to K-pop. DC was one of the first in the video and how they were described resonated with me and. Well! I have a personality that easily hyperfixates on whatever new interest comes my way, so... Here we are. 😅 it's been a delightful journey with y'all so far, seeing you both enjoy their music and the girls' personalities and styles and your live reactions to them (especially reactions to Dami 😂). I was there and helped them get their 3rd win, for Bon Voyage! Maybe next time y'all can help them get their 5th. :) Third, i want to make a note of something and hopefully i have the details correct. You may know, Ollounder and LEEZ were the primary composers for most of Dreamcatcher's stuff and are why the group have the sound that they do, but they were both considered independent producers. In 2022 LEEZ signed an exclusive contract with another company, and so ever since the mini-album Apocalypse: Follow Us he was no longer associated with them... except, for the song Reason - the 6th anniversary song and a song dedicated to the Dreamcatcher fanbase - LEEZ came back to co-compose it. I don't know much about music contracts and business stuff but to me, that's just so... 😢

"Reason" - This great fan song has now been performed live several times. Most recently a few days ago (02/23/2024) in Offenbach - Germany). Unfortunately no official video. I therefore recommend checking out DC's performance in France (on Mnet K-POP). It's live and it's great.

The most broken hearted would be Jiu and Sua along with all the members. Jiu is the leader, the burden on her shoulder for all the time relieved in a second, "rush of emotions" would be an understatement. Sua has been in the industry the longest, so yeah. During their 7th anniversary concert, insomnia shouted "we are always with Dreamcatcher" during the part. That was the most spine chilling moment in the concert and i cried again. Been crying to these videos repeatedly. I know it was 2 years ago, but still gets hit by emotions when watching it.

Well, I didn't expect to cry this early today but here we are 😭 Fortunately I keep a piece of paper towel at my desk for these situations. The first win video will always get me, and watching Reason right after is a sure way to make sure that one does as well. I watched this live and even I was suprised how hard it hit me when it happened. I'd been following them so long, and knew how much they wanted it and I was yelling like a crazy person when it finally happened.

Just doing my normal cruising through YT one day and saw a thumbnail and caption that said something about Dreamcatcher's First Win...I ignored it because DC NEVER wins those shows, plus some of the channels that are in my side queue are 'questionable' with their stupid click-bait titles. I continued watching a video, found another video to watch, clicked on it and THERE WERE THREE MORE thumbnails, all DIFFERENT CHANNELS, claiming DC got the First Win!? I had INSTANT tears, I had to take a break before even watching one of those. Just hoping against hope that it was real...OMG. I watched everything I could find about the win and their reactions! Then I started seeing thumbnails for reactions to their First Win...cried every time I saw a reaction (this time, too, with YOUR reactions). SO HEART-BROKEN and SO PROUD of these ladies and this group and this company all at the same time... They won AGAIN for the same song just a day or two later, and then their promotions came to an end. They got TWO SEPARATE WINS for that song! They did not win for 'Vision', which is another crime perpetrated by the Industry, and then the girls went on tour. It was a while before they had another MV release because they had toured so much. That tour is when DC became the very first K-Pop Group to go to a HUGE festival in Spain, Primavera Sound. They ALMOST MISSED that concert because of shitty weather in Germany messing with their Commercial Flight, but Primavera sent a Private Jet to pick them up and bring them to Spain! Otherwise they would have had to take a 6-hour drive and would have missed the event. Then Reason came out... Then FINALLY 'Bon Voyage' hit and ALSO got 2 wins, bringing their Grand Total to 4 that I know of, so far (le al HOPE for many more)...

Ah man, their first win. I remember clearly waking up and opening KZfaq and multiple videos of them showing up. I was looking at the screen for a few seconds in shock and started crying even before watching it. I was sobbing and screaming and jumping around the house at 7 am😂 What a moment as a fan. I never thought that I would feel so connected with a group like this! All the 5 years of fighting, it's crazy to think about their journey to their 1st win, then 2,3,4.... and many more to come! 🩶

Seeing the journey these girls have been through, really warms my heart. Been an insomnia since Maison era, so i was able to experience their first win. And once i got to really know them as a group and individually, that first win hit even more. And the first time I watched Reason when it came out, it was like the first thing I watched the morning I woke up that day, and i was in tears.

I was a baby somnia during Maison era, Literally my first ever comeback and I was bawling watching their first win. They are the first ever kpop group I ever voted for on things like music show but it's all worth the time and effort 😭

hearing them sing this live at their concert was just phenomenal! the whole concert hall synced up for the Whoa-oh-oh, i'm a 30 year old man and it bought tears to my eyes! absolutely amazing live!

With Dreamcatcher it was five years of coming close, but always disappointment and then the fraud that happened with Deja Vu, their masterpiece. Newer InSomnia here seeing this video 2+ weeks late despite KZfaq recommending it to me moments after it came out. I was like "seriously? You want me to bawl my eyes out right before work?" I then think I forgot about it until finding it again while binging their first win stuff earlier and yeah...bawled out grown man tears at 4am in the dark alone and absolutely not ashamed of it xD

I am not really notice REASON lyric in beginning, One day, I on my way by motorcycle with Dreamcatcher's song along. then, when REASON come, when I notice that part, "we are always with insomnia", at the moment after I heard they extend their conctract, the lyric hit really hard. I am crying 😭 what a beautiful story, personalities, songs, everthing about Dreamcatcher. I love Dreamcatcher, please always with InSomnia Deukae, and please InSomnia always with them.

I saw this video on my recommendations, the feels immediately came and I was planning to go get my eyes checked. So I patiently did all my eye exams and came back home as fast as possible so I can see yall's reactions, cause I wanted to re live this precious memory with you both, I was in tears the entire time. I wasn't an InSomnia at the time but I was learning about their story just like you two and its so heartbreaking to see these kind, sweetest, talented, persevering, hardworking women finally achieve the dreams they've all been working so hard for all these years including all the hard work from DCC staff, InSomnia, and everyone who helped along the way. It’s true that DC would have continued to be successful without one, but wins are crucial in kpop for non-music reasons like brand deals and CFs (where a lot more financial growth opportunities are available)-now they have two Neogen promos, a fashion ad, JiU’s Coach deal etc., which likely wouldn’t have happened without the industry legitimacy conferred by a win. Of all kpop groups with a win, it took Dreamcatcher the longest time to get there from debut-over 1800 days (Brave Girls technically took longer, but had major lineup changes so they’re an odd case), so it must have been incredibly disheartening to have been passed up for opportunities that other groups of comparable success and seniority took for granted!

That really gets me!! If you want a TMI, the video of handing cyring is when they were having their encore stage and Handong's parents wished her happy birthday and she got emotional during 4 Memory. I cry every time I re-watch the encore of their first win and Reason's MV. Knowing everything they've been through and how hard they've worked for this moment, you can't help but get emotional. After three years of being Insomnia, I will finally see them live on March 3rd in Lisbon. If anyone here is also going, get ready to see me cry my eyes out, specially during Reason haha
