I really like this new setup. One of the most common things you see on used coaches, even ones that arent all that old is that the normal style switch panels will eventually have lights fail behind certain buttons, or yhe buttons themselves start to act up. With the current technology in touchscreens and how durable they have become this system seems like it could easily work trouble free for years without the issues of failed switches/buttons or the lighting behind the buttons. Plus touchscreen panels with HD displays are always cool and wont look at all out dated anytime soon like manual bittpn panels can... Well done Newell! Just another reason that when I retire a Newell is the top brand of coach Ill be looking at!!

The next step would be to link that diagnostic panel to your phone thru bluetooth and set up a datalink over cellular with the repair facility to let them run a diagnostic check.

Thats definitely the direction things are going. Tesla does this with the cars and this type of setup isnt far from being able to do it. All it really needs is to be liked to the system to get connected to the web and then it should be accessible from anywhere.

Andrew, my wife and I have had 4 travel trailers and, more than likely, we will never be able to afford the level of coaches that you tour/show us on your channel. BUT, your channel has taught me what to look for in a travel trailer as far as how they are made, features to look for, etc.. Obviously it's not comparing 'apple to apples' but I would encourage people to watch your channel and learn even if they can't afford a motor coach...always something to learn and translate into what we're buying on a smaller scale.

At the 12 minute mark in the lower bay, all that wire going to the same point near the outside face could use some serious spiral cable wrap especially considering the asking price. What will all that wiring look like 15-20 years down the road? Question 2: why are the HMI panels set so low in the rear of the coach? It was hard for me to enjoy the aesthetics of the coach without thinking of stooping over to see the panel information. Just my two concerns and may not bother others. Thanks for providing the information. It certainly has to be a plus to the next generation of coach owners.

If I were to use the system, I'd want the color on the LGB's to change with a long press and have the tap function just for on and off. Seems more logical as most people won't be changing the color all the time.

So temporarily, can the small panels be virtually reassigned to behave like they are in another part of the coach in case a display goes bad?
@TheSupradude26
@TheSupradude26 3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you can "relocate" any small panel to any small panel location, and the same with the larger one. So if you had an issue with the rear bathroom panel you could change the bedroom panel to operate as if it were the rear bathroom panel.

Love the idea. Design of the GUI is questionable. Skeuomorphic design is dated at least and was ditched by all major software companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft for a reason.
@algrayg
@algrayg 3 жыл бұрын
Skeuomorphic design is useful when you’re trying to transition a legacy user. And software companies haven’t “ditched” skeuomorphism altogether. (Folders, disks (when there is no disk), page turns, wallpaper, etc) In this case you could hear the concern expressed that Newell’s legacy customers wouldn’t care for a departure from what they were used to. Here’s where I agree with you…the physical design that’s imitated is awful. That’s the real problem, not the fact that they simulated it in a touch screen. I would never build a custom house and then put such controls in it. I’ve always liked these coaches, but that interface cheapens the whole experience. Hopefully this can be optioned to provide a choice of interfaces. Because this one is not great. Maybe the best feature is that it can automatically turn off.

Honestly probably nothing additional. The wiring in these coaches is crazy, this greatly simplifies their build. I use something like this in my race car, called SmartWire, which makes all of your fuses and relays virtual. In the race car case costs about 2x what fuses and relays cost, but is 1/2 the time. And that is for only 10 - 15 circuits. In these things it would be a huge cost savings.

Great question. Ill check with Newell
@RVSquaredSteve
@RVSquaredSteve 3 жыл бұрын
I can answer that; I just had a long discussion with the tech engineer yesterday about the new system. Due to the huge complexity of the Spyder system that the N1 replaces, an old coach would need to be pretty much gutted and rewired. In addition, all the panels would need to be replaced. The work, let alone cost, would be catastrophic.

State of the Art. No doubt. But I loved "state of the Art" technology when I was 20 thru 40. Now i'm just happy to press a button for this and that. Not press this, scroll, go to this menu, then that menu and so on. Once my mom hit 60 we got her a cell phone, she couldn't handle it. So What's your Target population? You practically have to take a course to "Learn" this System. As a Retired 60-65 yr old that's really not something I want to get into. I know maybe that's just me, But I know I'm not alone because 1/2 of those senators and congressmen on capitol hill don't know how to use a smart phone. So what age group are you targeting? Whenever I have to pull out the manual to look up stuff on my Coach, I'm really not a happy camper, whether its a hard copy manual or a webpage. So me and this rig would not get Along. LOL. Heck just give me a 2015 Allegro Bus and I'll be happy. LOL. Hope I didn't offend anybody.

@FunDuude
@FunDuude 3 жыл бұрын
@@stano5102 ...No doubt, and that may work for many people. Personally I don't like getting on the ph and going thru this prompt and that prompt til I get a live CS rep. And most of the time I feel like I'm inconveniencing people when i have to ask for help, that's just me. I definitely don't wanna make my problem, everyone else's problem, but I'm less patient and less of a people person since I got back from Afghanistan some years ago. So less interaction is what works for me. My Moho is my Therapy and has a very Calming and soothing effect on me when I drive. So the less "Interaction" and "Gizmo manipulation" the more comfortable I am. LOL. Like I said, just give me a A 2015 Allegro Bus, or Essex or American Eagle and I'll be fine. lol
