Newest CAT Landscaping Equipment | Excavators & Track Loaders

Today we got a great opportunity to test out some of the latest construction equipment form CAT and the guys at Ziegler Cat in MN. Just a few of the machines featured here are Cats new D# series track loaders and skid loaders, 259D3 and a 299D3 both rocking the latest in technology from Trimble. The Trimble grading systems on these machines were way above my pay grade, i would need some serious time with them and a tech to help me fully understand their capabilities. We also had to a chance to take a look at a brand new piece of iron from cat, the 313 excavator, loaded with the latest technology in the next gen excavator lineup from cat. Also looked at the 310 pretty closely, seeing as it is a great sized machine for anyone in the landscape industry building bigger boulder walls or using large SRW type retaining wall blocks. Any smaller excavation projects are definitely a go with the new 310 as well.

I do really like that stick steer on the mini excavators. The right stick should always be your boom up and down and your left stick should always be your stick or Dipper

For grade control being on, that was one heck of a whoop section! Also, the dozer blade on the skidsteer, you wouldn't want to back blade with it. Look at how much crap gets on cylinders. I'm not a fan of back blading at all, but I know many rely on it.

so they tie it back so the tilt cylinders don't settle or so someone doesnt tip or curl blade ahead ???? you really needed to make a large windrow so you could take that chop out, could tell you where going over that chop in the grade and not cutting them out wonder how this would work in 2D set up ?

why do i buy cat? in my area they seem to care about the small contractor(me) and give great customer service after the sale. Are bobcat dealer has treated us really good too with the mt55 stuff.

What I have discovered is the finished product with automated machine control is no better than my manual grade with just a reciever mounted on the blade. I have been doing this before the technology was introduced. My dozers do have lasers on them without automated machine control. Just my 2 cents. CAT is the way to go.

The GPS systems dont wont like you think lol we've done multiple fields and me and other guys can grade faster and more accurate than the GPS especially the ones that one has one receiver on the blade makes it so you cant even angle they dig like hell had grader box attachments since early 2000s and havent been used since only thing gets used on is excavator and speed dozer

mikethorntonr1 : Such bullshit. You don't even know how to punctuate a sentence, and you think we will believe you can grade more accurately than GPS? My guess is you are too stupid to set it up correctly you moron. I don't give shit who you are... GPS on a machine will allow almost anybody (smarter than a rock that is) to grade faster and more accurately than if not on a machine; hands down.

TrailTrackers your wrong the gps is slower to update , the laser guided box blade for skid steers on the other hand is absolute magic it’s like cheating . But if you need vertical curves your stuck with manual or gps.

Nothing that new except the skid steer auto blade,looks like a waste of money though,only does elevation on the center,with the trunnion-bogie suspension on the cats which gives you more traction and ridability it’s very hard to control blade tilt,sort of like trying to final grade with a pickup truck,I wouldn’t buy this unless they addressed this.

Cat has to be the worst cab on a skid steer out there it's not made for guys over 6ft tall not enough leg room or hip room, and don't get me even started on hitting your knees on those side panels constantly

I am very, very disappointed with Cat. The way they absolutely disregard their whole crawler loader line, which is the most versatile piece of equipment on the jobsite. You think cat would have figured out how useful and productive one could be with a quick coupler and all the attachment possibilities. I don't think they want to promote them because they know how verstile they really are. They are really a large heavy duty skid steer on steroids.
