Paul Simon has actually heard this rendition of Sound of Silence, and he said it's the best rendition of the song that he has ever heard

You've heard Scott that low before, you could didn't know it was him! Anytime Matt (or Avi) take the lead, Scott takes over as the bass. Prime examples are Hallelujah (with Avi) and Mr Grinch (with Matt)

"Why does Mitch have to look different in every video?" Would it really be our favorite chameleon if he DIDN'T? I'm still a big fan of both of Simon & Garfunkel's original versions (the acoustic version particularly), but I have to rate this one right up there. And if you really want to hear Matt steal the show, check out their version of Mr. Grinch. Matt has the lead throughout the song and completely knocks it out of the park!

I'll need to check, but if you haven't, you should also check the studio version of this as done by Disturbed, which is a totally different beast again. Kirsten voice and her vibrato are just incredible in this and also in their version of Amazing Grace, which you did 3 months ago

You have heard Scott sing that low before; he picks up the bass track when Avi or Matt are soloing. As far as I know, the only time we get to see him doing it is on the live version of Hallelujah. When Avi is singing, watch Scott over to the left and you can see him singing the bass line. I think this song is when Kirstin (Cur-stin) starts to come out of her shell. She steps up here and just owns it. You are one of the few reactors to comment on the bit where "words" goes from Kirstin to Scott to Mitch. It's one of my favorite bits and most people don't mention it.

Agreed M MG. I've seen reactors give various facial reactions or a 'wow' expression at that point in the song but no one has talked about it. It's more great PTX arranging and performance.

The arms reaching out during that part from Kirstin to Scott to Mitch!! Gives me goosebumps every time!! I've only seen one other reactor mention it. You can see Scott doing the bass in this one when Matt is singing. He's moving his hands but not opening his mouth. If Scott's moving his hands, you know there's sound coming out of his mouth! 😂

You actually have heard Scott sing low before. Whenever Avi or Matt take the lead, Scott takes the bass. Yes, he is a baritone, but his range, low and high, is phenomenal. Pay attention here and you can see it as well as the live Hallelujah and the official video for The Grinch.

Them singing this song each and every time I listen to it (numerous times) it gives me chills up and down my body they are such a powerful vocal group...when it’s time to mow my lawn I put my earbuds in and play pentatonix videos on KZfaq

Loved the reaction. You were caught up in the belltones and didn't hear matt go super low but you caught soo many other things reactors dont, that wasn't a big deal. The words, words, words going from Kirstin to scott to Mitch is awesome. And you gave Kevin the credit he deserved which was great!!

This is absolutely a perfect performance by PTX and you caught virtually all of the key elements, from the background light, to the transitions from one lead to another, to the brief focus on Kevin's beatboxing, all of which combined with the outstanding leads and harmonies to result in this top tier classic.

I had the album of Simon and Garfunkel when it came out. Yes, yes, yes, this is the best! I've listened to it so many times I can't count. These guys can do no wrong. And yup Scott carries the bass. So much talent🌞. Love your reaction and you talk fast enough! I'm on the border of Canada, you don't talk slow when it's cold 😁. Love when you lean into the camera.👍👍👍

Someone probably already said this but in their concerts, Kevin uses an electronic stomp pad, he's a beast and PTX makes every song better 😁

It doesn’t help that you jump all over the place instead of watching them in reasonable order. Just kidding I jump around too. I saw a female hair style trend 2021 & the modified mullet is huge. I think it’s in part because of Mitch. ☮️💟😷

In the early video's Mitch had cancer, so when he didn't have hair and was skinny, he was going through treatments. He's healthy now and doing much better. But he always has his individual style, it's part of what makes Mitch, Mitch!!

Eddie, the original was by Simon & Garfunkel in the 60's but you should check out The Sound of Silence by Disturbed (before PTX cover). Whole new different experience. Even Paul Simon was impressed and shared it on his social media account.

I’ve loved Simon & Garfunkel for a good 40 years & this song specifically is one of my faves but I prefer this version if I’m honest, it’s more dynamic. Love love love PTX & I adore Mitch, his voice is truly a gift from God (love his chameleon vibes too) 😍

Hey Newfie...I doubt that this will win your Pentatonix polls, but they have some super covers that will blow your mind...the sing in different languages: "Perfume" (Japanese), "Gangum Style" (Korean), and "Papauotai" (French)! Another one that is a bit under the radar is a 2012 rap rendition of "Thrift Stop" (Macklemore & Lewis). You will love them guaranteed !!

Love the original, but the darkness of Disturbed and the tragic beauty of this one give me goosebumps!! So good. You should check out Home Free for some more (different) amazing vocal talents with beatboxing percussion.

The guy in the white coat isn't the beat boxer. He is the bass singer. He took the place of Avi. Kevin, the beat boxer is on the left of Mitch.

He sang the beautiful bass in Hallelujah! I think Scott is not recognized as the most adjustable singer (he can sing bass, tenor and high notes)! He is overshadowed by Mitch.

When PTX, or Angelina Jordan, cover a song, that cover becomes the definitive version...period. In an interview years ago with PTX, they were asked if there was a song that they would never attempt to cover, Scott answered, "Bohemian Rhapsody"...then, several years later..voila! As they have matured, so have their voices, all of them have significantly wider ranges now, and their expertise at arranging has grown as well (along with the "sixth" member, expert arranger Ben Bram).

Queen's version of bohemian rhapsody is still the definitive version but ptx definitely has the closest feeling to the original...not that I've heard other covers of bohemian rhapsody very few people are ballsy enough to attempt to cover it.

@@super_siri "version" usually refers to a cover in music terms, not the OG. In any case, I'm dismayed by the number of reactors who are obviously not familiar with this OG. They are surprised by the right-to-left audio swing that PTX does, but almost no reactor appears to remember that Queen did exactly that. 😏

Great reaction, but you paused in the middle of Matt’s solo, just before he slid his voice to the basement. Listen to it again and I think you’ll be impressed. He’s doing an excellent job filling Avi’s shoes.

Oh my God YOU do know Matt has Zero to do with beatboxing. He is a BASS he supplies rhythm like a bass guitar but he is not the Beatboxer (that is Kevin’s function)

hmm as for the version of this song, this one is more entertaining and full of harmonies, but i still prefere the cover from Disturbed. Only one singer, but David Draiman gives me the goosebumps as you feel in your bones the feelings grow and blossom into the anger that the message isn't heard.

I just much prefer the version that Disturbed did of this track (mv), you should really check it out Eddie it's just awsome, it gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Both covers are excellent. With David Draiman's raw emotion and how well it captures the darkness of the lyrics, I do give the Disturbed version a slight edge, but with the amazing harmonies here it's very close.

I find the Disturbed version too depressing. I think PTX found the right balance between the original and the disturbed remake
