@itstrayantula7082 Yes when I was growing up on the 60'sc& 70's Saturday morning cartoons like Bugs Bunny & other cartoons were loaded with physical violence which was addressed in later years. Then video games & computer games were with lots of violence then & today. Which desensitizes children to real violence 🤔. JUST watching the evening news is a cause for worry 😟. The epidemic of gun violence with mass casualties is disturbing. It's only getting worse not better!!!!

Kirk character did not fit the humour of the show. He had a mean side. His dishonesty was self serving. He was more self aware than the other characters so as a result was more culpable. Think Green Acres. It worked because of their lunacy and their total lack of awareness of it.

When this series first aired, 'Yuppies" were a thing....young, urban professionals who were big into conspicuous consumption, designer labels, etc. It was the complete opposite to what hippies stood for in the previous decade. This series did an excellent job of parodying the yuppy trend.
