That brassy-arse beat in ETA is so good! It was giving me both Rustie future bass vibes and made me think of BP's Kill This Love too... But ASAP is the stand out for me, just the most minimal perfect wisp of dream-core genius production I've ever heard, pure magic. NewJeans are simply angelic at this point. 🧡💖🧡🧡🧡

ASAP- I CAN'T-

I'm explaining this mv to you easy to understand. The girl in black throughout the mv is the cupid when she follows someone, that person will have true love. Her life is always lonely because no one knows her, but then one day a guy has seen her so she is very curious and has followed him. Although she is the god of love, she does not have the love of her life and she realizes that the other guy does not see her and it is all because she is unilateral (side A). Side B is a continuation of the turbulent love story of the cupid after realizing that he also doesn't see herself she has completely collapsed but r again like a miracle he appears before her eyes and she mistakenly thinks again that he is looking at her but not at the person next to her. At the end of the story she has lost faith in love and she will have to live alone for the rest of her life. Newjeans appeared also as the cupid too who always watched that girl and wanted to help her find her love but at the end of side B we saw that the girl had woken up and seemed to have accepted her harsh reality.

A quick run down: Hoyeon - Cupid Love interest - Psyche Tony Leung - Venus

GET UP > SUPER SHY > NEW JEANS > ASAP > COOL WITH YOU > ETA New Jeans - 10/10 - A basic rnb type pop song that could be played in an arcade. - Just executed well and very cute song that set the tone for this kinda powerpuff girl and game aesthetic we are getting from New Jeans. Super Shy 10/10 - It incoperates musical elements of Drum & Bass, Jersey Club, and hints of retro and y2k. - It's a very sonically interesting song and very refreshing to put in New Jeans discography. It definitely slots into their musical identity of sophisticated pop with easy and enjoying listening experience without feeling overwhelmed. - However, I do think it reads as an outlier due to the track sounding more like a pinkpantheress track that popularized the drum and bass infused rnb genre and due to the fact that 250 is missing in the production. - From a holistic perspective and my personal enjoyment, I really like this track, and overall, it's another very cute sounding track. ETA - 250 is in the production of this song, and tbh, I wasn't vibing the production of the song. - I felt like the trumpet sample used throughout the duration of the song can read as a huge outlier in terms of New Jeans discography and sounds more childish and tame imo. - It sounds a bit corny, lame and odd to me as a listener. - It lacks a lot of the nuance, and I can see the appeal of this song. I know why people would enjoy this, but it's not for me personally. Cool With You - I am really confused about the album's direction, and something feels off about this track. - I am getting deep house, y2k vibes from this song, and imo, this song doesn’t sound like New Jeans to me. - It lacks that sophisticating New Jeans personality that we heard from their previous ep. - I don't actively dislike it but I don't see myself playing to this song multiple times as it lacks a lot of the nuance heard in their discography. - I feel like I heard this song before and it doesn't add something to their refreshing discography. Get Up - There is so much lost potential with this track as there is so much to be desired. - It sounds very refreshing to put in their discography and it's their most etheral, lush rnb sounding track that feels like an earworm for me. ASAP - I am vibing with the staccato of the rhythm and it sounds very laid back but executed effectively. - This is the sound that feels like a game outro and it's set the tone as a good closer for the album when we listen to it in full. This ep feels like a collection of songs rather than a cohesive body of work but it's overall a solid album in 2023 and I am looking foward to what New Jeans have to release.

These singles are almost like jingles. Short, catchy but maybe that was a bad idea.

I dont know why but their music reminds me to Gorillaz in some way, like something experimental and new to the genre.

Fun thing for me for 'Cool with you' MV is that it's somewhat challenges 2 other big K-pop hits: Cupid and Eve, Psyche and Bluebeard's wife. It's like Shin Wooseok says 'You girls dived into Greek mythology? U think u ready? Nah, y'all aren't even close to a good interpretation of it, hold my beer'.

I thought this album was actually pretty disappointing. The song we were all looking forward to from the cool with you mv was actually just a 30 sec snippet in the album. I was super looking forward to Asap but it’s just kind of a 2 minute version of the teaser and doesn’t really change much. I wanted verses and bridges etc but it’s only 2 minutes long (like most songs in the album). And I didn’t really like ETA either
