I have been saying for years, if there are diesel cargo box trucks with diesel engines up front, why can't there be RVs like that to be able to have a diesel toy hauler. Finally someone listened!

Front engine diesel toy haulers were sold up until 2009 or so when the recession came. Glad they're making a comeback

Seriously?! Still only 1500lb capacity in the garage? The GVWR is up to 30,000lb, but the 3927 garage is STILL unable to carry two dressed-baggers? And forget carrying a Smart Car. Please say that's just a mistake. And...are you saying ALL 2021 Canyon Stars will be the FRED...or is it an optional Chassis?

Looks like the steering wheel has no controls on it and it is not telescoping. Otherwise Newmar nailed it depending on the actual MSRP pricing. Didn't the new Ford chassis add a telescoping steering wheel? I also thought I read Newmar revamped the exterior wet bay but it didn't look like they did in the video. Thinking Kountry Star makes more sense if we go diesel or for gas the Open Road on the new chassis is looking more appealing.

Andy, the steering wheel/instrument cluster was very utilitarian. This chassis has been around for a while, but only used in very small numbers of custom built vehicles. Therefore, no research and development has been done.

I wonder if Newmar might get an upgrade steering wheel in future .models? Although it is definitely not a deal breaker but it would be nice to have the telescoping steering wheel like the Ford chassis is supposed to have. How does it drive? Curious on steering/sway on the highway? Will a Safe-T-Plus add on be needed for serious long trip driving or not? Really like the big kitchen windows and other improvements along with the diesel chassis. Have my eye on a 3719 in the near future!

Hello Chris, can you give up an estimated time that the new diesel powered Canyon Star will be released to the market. I keep hearing hype about this coach, but no actual release date.

I really hope that Winnebago doesn’t degrade the Newmar line. We all know how cheap looking, and the shoddy craftsmanship that Winnebago is known for. It would really be a shame to see Newmar go down this path. I was shocked to hear of the sale. How many great motor home companies have vanished in the recent years. Monaco, Country Coach, Beaver... the list goes on. We will see what happens.

Hello. Does the refrigerator run on gas and electric? On an RV tv show the salesperson stated it operated only on electric so that your generator would need to be running while you are in transit with your stocked up frig. Please advise. Thank you!

Probably a little of both. Engine was louder until it warmed up, then pretty quiet!

Thanks for the outstanding video. You answered the questions I has as to which engine (Cummins vs Ford). Very nice unit. There is one other question I have. Will the new "FRED" Canyon Star have the ability to plug in your CPAP machine like the Kountry Star, Dutch Star, etc.?

Does this still have the outdoor patio deck? Deal breaker for me personally. Thanks and great video. I love this new model, my favorite so far. The design is beautiful. EDIT: This also needs the countertop extender, passenger side computer desk, and an air horn and she would be perfect. :D

Agree... one ugly dash-must of been a Winnie design team on that! Front springs...meh. Would be an engineering miracle if they keep that heavy front end from feeling like a gasser RV. I love Newmar though...like others, hope they retain the quality craftsmanship. My Newmar Allstar mid-engine diesel toy hauler still excites me more - but it's a start. Hope these FRED designs work this time around!!

The 6.7 Cummins is fairly quiet at idle and when driving it's quiet as well I rented a penske freightliner box truck with the same engine so I had some time to really listen to the engine.

Its a little quieter than the gas under load. Maybe a little louder at idle.
