So different from his earlier interviews in the 1960s, even 80s. Much looser and lighter. Not so much the ego. More humble. I loved his comedy. Despite all his human personal faults, he will always be one of the greatest.

It’s amazing Jerry lived for so long and worked as hard as he did with the chronic severe pain he suffered... I’m glad he found peace and pain relief at the end of his life.

Poor man..... Chronic pain is terrible.....😕

It really is. My husband has very similar spinal issues as Jerry had. He has severe spinal stenosis and a herniated cervical disc. He really screwed up his back from all the years he worked as a paramedic lifting heavy patients on stretchers in and out of the ambulance, carrying people up and down many flights of stairs, etc. He's not a surgical candidate, so he has to rely on chronic pain killers - the same pain killer Jerry got addicted to. It's awful, but it's the only thing that can get him through the day sometimes.

Jerry was in good spirits in this interview. A common theory as to what happened that led him to MD was that he had a unknown debilitating medical issue as a kid that scared him and his family. If that is true, I don't understand why he would've wanted to be so secretive about it.
@jrwheeler812 жыл бұрын
Yes. He was asked in an interview once why he was so passionate about MD and he said that it had something to do with an experience he had as child and that it had absolutely nothing to do with any of his kids, but he wouldn't say anything further about it. He always kept a very tight lid on it and would never get into any specific details about what it was that had happened to him.

So did Jerry attempt shooting himself twice? He had said that he had a gun in his mouth but heard his young sons playing and decided against it. I have never heard about this attempt or the circumstances.

It's interesting how such a funny and sensitive man could be so cruel and heartless to his own children.

Basically Jerry Lewis was a very talented comic when it came to being ON SCREEN. However, when he was OFF SCREEN his personality was terrible. There is a network tv program called "Inside Edition" that sent reporters out and actually interviewed his REAL daughter who is living on the streets and she is homeless. Please Look it up everyone, her name is Susan Lewis and the tv program was called "Inside Edition" He treated her like shit and allowed her to live on the streets. Look it up everyone, her name is Susan Lewis. Also, his sons say he mentally abused them.

He's well known for being a nasty piece of work off screen. To be fair it comes across in many of his tv interviews, he often can't not attack other people
