I appreciate this debate but I'm surprised there wasn't any questions or any mention of what specifically these candidates plan to do to assure the safety of our schools for innocent children. And it's not about guns, schools need to be more secure from weirdos entering with bad intentions.

Not impressed with Waters, Jefferson, Cummings at all! Clark seems the most prepared. Burton is okay but has a lot of support so she’ll probably beat Clark!

I don't care if the police officer is living in another county as long as they can do their job effectively and fair. I do agree that officers off the clock should not be using JSO vehicles and should be driving their own personal vehicles. This can help with savings $$$$ on maintenance and JSO vehicles can last longer.

Living in a country other than the US, the use of police vehicles after hours is unheard of. Pardon my ignorance but is such a unprofessional practice even known in the US?

@@classicalaid1 yes, I lived in jacksonville for the last 10 years and Ive seen it first hand many of times, they will have their cruisers parked in thier front lawns.

I weep for Jacksonville. It's time to move to Lake City. 5 people spouting platitudes, stating statistics and almost no actual answers. Not one of them could tell you the difference between Doom Loop and Flywheel change. All Doom Loop answers which never succeeds. Ms. Burton,, how about acknowledging the officers who did the work in zone 2. YOU did not reduce crime. IF there was a real reduction it was the officers and community that did it. Yes DOCTOR Cummins, we got it, you have degrees, so do I, woopie. Mr. Waters, work on your answers, you seem to have answers but you're not getting it across. Answers were too short but you sound like you are the most level-headed in the bunch. Good job Mr. Jefferson and Mr. Clark, you had some good answers.

That would have been a waste of half of that hour. Not one of them said anything that conflicted with the constitution. You’re trying to sound smart and you failed.

Sheriffs main job is to protect our constitutional rights…seems obvious to spend time asking them how they would. Police and law enforcement across the country are exploiting Americans rights everyday And is only getting worse. Police are the biggest threat to Americans Freedoms, they have monopolized physical force and their unions make it impossible to pass legislation to stop the police state. Half the city budget goes to the police, this is absurd ; we live in a police state.
