Never is focus on growth.. But always on inequality, its absurd. Can you point to a country without inequality? Can you point to any historical country without inequality? Can you show me what a society without inequality look's like in practice? Waisting time, resources while poverty is actually solvable.

I blame financialization of the economy - government should be implementing economic policies that redirect resources/capital away from the financial sector/real estate and into economic sectors that have high absorptive capacity for labour like manufacturing, construction, mining, etc.

Private sector jobs create taxes and wealth to grow the economy. Public sector jobs don't create wealth to grow the economy, they recycle internal structural wealth that steadily erodes away, eventually causing job losses. Create a better business environment for the private sector to grow instead of chasing them away with BBBEE and Red Tape restrictions, problem solved! (Yawn)

The Apartheid economy was designed to meet the needs of a few. Nothing changed since 1994.
@attieschutte7116
@attieschutte7116 3 ай бұрын
The few benefited from being politically connected sure....just like now! It is always the few that benefits from political connections. But the economy was not designed in any shape or form. It is a intellectual misunderstanding of economics to think the apartheid government somehow "design" an economic system...they would not have known where to start.
@attieschutte7116
@attieschutte7116 3 ай бұрын
Further to this: I must add that part of the current problem is the Anc/EFF lefties dreaming of just how to "design" an economic system. Instead of making a crime free environment for investment and entrepreneurs, they view the economy as an enemy that needs to be brought under control... It has the effect of 1% economic growth per year for the last 10 years leaving millions in poverty, that should long have escaped it in a true free market system.

Whether we like the ANC or not, the truth is the ANC found a broken country with a GDP of $118 billion dollars and it is now $490 billion. Even GDP per capita has increased. These functionalities by the way are not the only way to measure development. It's a dishonest appraisal. Yes there are grave misdemeanors but this is a completely dishonest appraisal of measuring development when you simply use economic growth and not apply other indices. He also does not apportion the lack of disinvestment to the private sector that sits with trillions of dollars in their coffers. He conveniently forgets to mention that between 1999 to 2007 there was a global commodities boom in which all countries whose economies are commodity driven benefitted handsomely hence the said uniform growth rate of 4% across all those countries. He also makes alot of contradictions.

I don't care about the growth rate of other countries,whether they are good or bad.We don't live in malaysia or uganda!those governments don't have to take care of south africans.stop this nonesense of wanting to oint out what goes on in other countries when ours is doing poorly.nobody cared what nigeria's economy was doing when south africa was no.1 in africa.now all of a sudden we must draw comparisons when we have dropped down the list.
