Climbing clothes should be above all else cheap, trash-able and sustainable. Everything else is largely commercialism. The best climber in a $5 Old Navy plain cotton t-shirt is still the best climber, and they're unlikely to be bothered when it gets ripped.

I hate to say it, got my 5 pairs of "climbing" pants 10 years ago at a Primark sale for 15 Euros total. They've lasted until today (with some holes sure) and will probably last for a few years more, perfectly stretchy, casual fitting, not too warm, durable, ugly as fuck. So until Black Diamond and all other climbing brands can legitimize their ridiculous prizes by producing in a sustainable way with European manufacturers, climbing pants are still the biggest rip-off products in the industry.

I thought the same. Picked up a pair half price second hand (montaine) they are sooo warm, lightwaight, comfy, windproof, incredibly quick drying. The ventelation is a life saver. Every one of these features is very important if they are needed.
