Nice tree work! Like it was made by some landlocked beaver. Very creative and functional set up. I'm impressed by your videos and have been enjoying a retrospective browse. I'm grateful for all your work.

Wow ! All winter ❄️ Love to see the new shelter. Good to see your taking care of yourself. I have a freind who does what your doing by choice. I've seen hime build a shelter from scrap & the finished product made me say to myself, "this guy ain't homeless" it's amazing to see what we can do if we set our minds to it & are in a citation that we have to. Our ancestor's did it & they were never thought of as homeless. Take care

Something I have found very useful is my entrenching tool. It’s a military collapsible shovel. They make civilian versions with gadgets and what not. I love mine because it’s simple and very very useful. You could use it to build up dirt over the wood frame and make a “mound” the branches would reenforce it and the dirt would make excellent insulation and cover. You could even dig subterranean and give yourself more room. Heck with enough time and imagination you could make some tunnels.

I've never tent camped in snow but I was in 37 over night temperature. I had and electric blanket hooked to a small generator but it ran down by 1:00 a.m. But I have enough layers of clothes and blankets that I was fine. I was so cozy. Your tent looks very cozy. A small solar powered generator that can charge your phone would be a great addition. Even those small hand held solar chargers are good.

Wow! You've made a nice, warm nest for yourself in there. I bet it's so soft, warm and comfortable in there now, that it's nice inside, even when it's brrrrr outside. That's how trappers and mountain people did their small shelters generations ago, and how nomads in other countries do their shelters, even now.... and they survive brutal winters with their families in shelters like that. It looks amazing! 🙂

Down here in Louisiana we see you doing this and we are watching with our mouths open. Been watching corporals corner. Got me seriously considering getting a motorcycle and doing like I did in the 80's . Pulling besides the freeway pop a tent and sleep. Then I remember I have a CPAP machine , a Toyota Prius V . I would be stupid to trade that blessed car for a hot , cold, wet ,sun burning ,road rashing bone crushing cave man ride, when you f-up on a bike you got problems not expenses but problems. My nephew is rehabilitation lost fingers a leg and it's very painful. F a MC.

Rob, new to your channel. I have watched several of your videos to see your progression on the shelter. Your location at the moment is in a harsh winter environment, and looks like you have addressed most of the main concerns, wind, rain, insulation. my only concern is the strength of your roof system under heavy snow loads. there are many bush craft shelter channels that may offer ideas in creating a more solid roof line that stays in the basic idea of what you have done so far. Safety from collapse is my main concern for you. I would like to share your video with my face book campers page. I think most of your ideas would resonate with a few, but will give all insight as to the possibilities of what a long term camp looks like. Stay safe and warm. Jim
@RobTheNomad
@RobTheNomad 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This thing isn’t going to collapse. I’ve been out here all winter trying new things and this roof is as solid as it gets. I’ve already had 3 styles collapse and learned from it. I don’t think a falling tree would do anything.

great job on the stealth ive cold camped quite a few times in my life traveling and fear of giving away where i was i had little choice and learned from mistakes along the way about layers and my gear kit evolved over the years to the point if i have the right clothing on its all i need and i could carry very little in my back pack or fanny pack to survive ive allso used cheapo wool moving blankets for insulation on my car windows when i lived in my car for two years in the north east with some brutal storms. i think people dont realize how little the human needs to survive its just the things you do need to survive you need to know how to get thats shelter water and food and your clothing and outershell of ur clothing can infact be your first form of shelter alone stay safe out there stay frosty and keep a strong faith
